Since ive gotten the car as long as i can remember when i turn up the volume on my head unit (Sony aftermarket) sometimes if its too loud or i guess if its too bassy the player resets. It like shuts off then comes back on and loads the cd back up again on continues playing the radio. I have 1000 watt 8-way speakers im about to install cause i wanted something better then my stock ones. I think this problem could be related to my battery thou because if i leave my lights on for 5 - 10 minutes the car dies and sometimes when im driving my radar detector will say low volt. I play on getting a new battery here really soon but i was wondering if that will fix my cd player problem.

Also, my sony head unit should be able to give enough power to power up my new speakers right?

Thanks!

Ben :talon:

that sounds like a grounding problem.
i have the same problem in my winter beater, it shuts off if i turn the volume above 28, or if it gets too bassy. Check the ground on the cd player... sometimes the ground will come out of the harness too.

What would u expect for using a sony explod headunit ?? .... most likely your altornator will play a big role in it since your volt meter keeps flashing but the ground may be bad ... check all your wiring and the harness's for loose connections. other than that try running it direct. :dsm:

In talons/eclipses there is no need for a ground wire from the car harness as there isnt one coming from the car harness and the deck mounted is the ground as far as I know. Just for peace of mind I grounded the ground wire from the harness FROM the headunit to a solid piece of metal as well, but its not required.

Have your altenator tested. Autozone will do it for you.

John
no they won't, they can't test our alt. because they don't carry the adapter. murreys or carquest don't test it either.

i've had mitsu. alternators tested at both autozone and advance auto parts....

it's the same alternator as in most older chrysler products
