The exterior of my talon was mint until a tree branch fell on it last summer. There is a minor dent in it now. I was wondering if replacing the roof is going to be a huge job, or costly? any suggestions will help. thanks jon

Some time with a hammer, some bondo, and some paint, you'll be on your way.

If you find a good shop they can make it look good. My old Lumina's roof got smoked by a pole on the delivery truck, I didn't know that my roof has been owned up on until I pulled the headliner to put in a sunroof.

or you could cut the roof off, get a donor car, cut the roof off that one, then weld it on yours. :)

....or take it to a body shop like stated above

Mabey you could just the whole top off.. make it a targa and have something noone else has but thats just me. got to figures something out for the door.. sorry i like different things..

If you took the top off, you would be driving a can of cranberry sauce :p

cutting a roof is more work then anyone thinks....

First let me make the statement..."the roof is the main structural support of any car" especially when its ona uni-body, such as a DSM. Why do you tihnk convertables are so much heavier? because they have to put so much more support in the car to keep it from caving in on itself.

I'm a body guy, and from what you say, it was a branch and not a whole tree...and you also said little dent, cake work, can be done in a day, make it easier and cheaper for you, pull the headliner down, so they cant charge you, and all it takes is a hammer and some bondo, like said above...

And always remember, bondo isnt bad, as long as its done right, it will last the life of the car... :thumb:

^^^^^^^^
The reason why most people think that plastic filler (Bondo) is such a bad thing is because there are all those dumb hicks and morons out there that bondo over rust, holes, etc etc. Also a lot of people will fill a dent thats like a half inch deep with filler instead of popping it out as much as possible then smoothing it with filler. No matter what kind of body work that is done to a vehicle unless you are replacing something that is bolt on, then you will need filler 99% of the time. When the surface is prepped right and it is used right it is gods gift to body men. Before plastic filler there was lead filler. Boy am I glad that is basically gone.

Just take it to a body shop. It wont take very long at all. They know what they are doing. (Well, most of them do.)

I'll prolly have it priced at a few body shops tomm. thanks for the advice guys
