I need some blunt answers for this idea and possibly some Photoshop pics to persuade my idea. I cannot afford a spyder and I'm one to believe that best bodykit is the stock bumbers and skirts so therefore I dont want any body work such as aftermarket kits done on the car... anyways... since i cant afford the spyder and im looking for other things do to on the exterior besides bodykits... i thought that a removable hard-top would be pretty cool on a eclipse... as it looks pretty good on other cars such as the Toyota Supra and the Honda Del Sol, I still dont know how to post pics so if you've seen these cars the these T-tops without the T you know what I'm talking about. Some constructive critism?

It's been done. There's someone here on the site that has a custom made targa top and it is SWEET!!! He was one of the featured rides some months ago but I don't remember a name or link, I'm sure someone here has got pics of it though.

It's called a targa top, and it's really hard to accomplish on a unibody car such as the 2G.

Search for "targa top" and you should find what you're looking for. :thumb:

to do it he had to put a full cage

If you dont have alot of money to spend, then done even consider something this custom, unless you have all the tools and the ability to do it yourself. It will be cheaper to just sell your current car and then start fresh with a spyder. Also, I believe Dre still has problems sealing that when it rains hard... or so Ive heard, maybe someone else who knows for sure can chime in.

Just take off your hatch  That ought to open it up a bit for you.

You should read what he has to say about it before calling it sweet. Unless prison shower-rape -from the wrong end of the train- is your idea of an entertaining afternoon.

Cars just don't do well with half their frames removed.

Read through dre99gsx 's posts:

And, search "targa".

If you can't afford a convertible, you can't afford three times that to make one.
