Defi D Question

I am thinking about getting these gauges but since they are kinda pricy (compared to Autometer being $50) I am going to probably wind up buying them all separate. I plan on buying the Boost gauge first and that brings me to my question.

Do I need the control unit for just the boost gauge or can I wait until I get the EGT and Temp gauges?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is redundant but I couldnt find anything through my search.

Umm...No. If i understand what your typen of...I have just a boost gauge..and I have a triple a -pillar pod...if thats what ya typen of...Go for it...I have yet not bought the air/fuel or the egt yet...cause i haven't gotten around to getting my upgraded fuel pump yet or egt stuff yet..so why have the gauges in your car if ya don't have them? just one more reason for someone to call ya a ricer, imo

Now, back to answering the OP...the Defi D series don't use a control box. They're just regular gauges. Unless you plan on going with Defi-Link, you won't have any of that stuff to worry about.

The BF and the Link series need a control unit. The D-Gaugess do not. The D-Series Tach can be used with a link control unit.

The defi d gauges are alsome. worth the money for sure. my boost is dead on and has no delay like autometer. they are an individual gauge witch means you dont need the link unit to run them. as for price the only gauge that cost more then the rest is the boost over autometer everything else is about the same. jim

Just so there is no confusion here. Defi offers several different types of Gauges

Defi D-series which are mechanial and electric and operate independently of each other like most standard gauges.

Defi Link. A much more advanced fully electronic gauge that incorparates a Link controll box for peak hold, Real time playback, warning system and more.

Defi BF (Black Face) series gauges which are just like the Link series but in addition have a black out feature that completly blacks out the face of the gauge when off.
