Ok this is a bit of a story but everyone bear with me.
I just installed my fog lights 2 days ago and after I powered up my car and my fog lights look awesome but my stereo came on with "code" in the screen. Yes I took the negative battery cable off which is the reason why the stereo was doing this. I found out (the hard way) that after the stereo is disconnected for so long it thinks it's being "stolen" and for some reason resets itself and asks for a code. I didn't have the code but that didn't stop me from making some "KNOB" mistake and guessed the code 3 times, now the stereo says off and thats it.
So I went contacted the dealership to see if they knew how to get the stereo to ask for a code. TO MY SURPRISE THEY KNEW. You just keep the car off but keep the key on the "ON" switch for a hour and it resets the stereo to ask for the code. I was in shock that the dealership was telling me this. I mean it was "satan" giving me advice.
So, I then asked for the code for the stereo and the guy asked for the serial number. I asked how do I find the serial number and the guy said it is on the top of the stereo. So I took the trim surronding the stereo off with my hands(no tools required) and the code was just behind the faceplate so I didn't have to take the stereo out. I gave the guy the serial number and he gave me the code. I input the code and IT WORKS.
Hope this helps some people.
