My power steering pump decided to take a sh*t all over my alternator, and amazingly enough my alternator still works. I'm not taking any chances though, so while I'm repairing the P/S pump I'd like to do an alternator service to make sure everything is in order.
The problem is, I know better than to assume that your average cleaning solvents are appropriate for use in an alternator.
Can anyone suggest a good method for cleaning the internals of the alternator if they're gummed up? (methods, solvents/chemicals, etc.)
Many thanks!
