help my side skirts are startin to crack and i have been thinkin of taken them off but alot of people are tellin me that i might as well fix them b/c it will cost me more just to take them off. is this true?

are they factory side skirts or aftermarket fiberglass ones. u could fiberglass some aftermarket ones pretty easy and just mold em on. the stock ones are urethane i guess or some sort of soft abs, im sure u could glass them up too it would just be more difficult.

I would refrain from fiberglassing any kind of urethane/abs product for a few reasons: 1)it is always more difficult to get the fiberglass to actually bond with any type of plastic 2) fiberglass and plastic are way to different (rigidity wise) to expect a bond b/w them to last. Fiberglass cures to a rigid material, yes it can be bent and twisted a little bit but it's flexibility will not be anywhere near that of a urethane or abs product.

When you speak of cracking do you mean a) spidering/cracking along the actual side skirt or b) cracking where the molding was done? If your side skirts themselves have spider cracks in them the fix is easy. If the cracks are along the mold there is a good chance they weren't molded properly to begin with.

Fixing the mold will require that the cracks be opened up and "V"ed out so that new fiberglass mat and resin could be applied to improve the strength in that area. Removing the side skirt will require that it be cut off and then all of the fiberglass that is molded to the body of the car to be ground down smooth, any body working will need to be done, and then a repaint of the fenders and the quarters.

A pic of the cracks would need to be obtained for me to even give you a ball park idea which method might be the most practical.

they are after market side skirts. blitz
i was really wondirin what it would cost to take them off
