i want to put something a little diffrent on my car when i pick it up....right now i believe it has a greddy 1-n on it...i havent heard one of these in person so if it sounds decent it might stay...I was curious if anyone has ever heard a DSM with a monza exhaust on it...the pace setter series is what comes on ferraris....and i know, there isnt any way a dsm is going to sound like a ferrari, but it would have to sound better then some of the fart cans i have seen patrolling my local streets

2 of my friends had the pace-setter exhuasts for their cars, one DSM, and a Mazda... both had the connection between the pipe & muffler rust out, and eventually the muffler pretty much fell off. both happened within 1.5 - 2 years. another friend ordered the Pacesetter Headers for his Ford Probe, and ended up returning them before even installing and going with the Brosal Speed. the welds were TERRIBLE!

IMO, i wouldn't waste my money on Pacesetter products. i'm not dogging Pacesetter, they must sell some decent stuff if they are still around, but i wouldn't go there personally!

and i don't think Pacesetter comes on Ferraris, the Monza logo is similar to what's on the ferrari, but i'm betting it a higher quality than 2yrs 2 rust!

I just put my monza cat back on yesterday along with a highflow cat... both have been sitting outside in the wheather for 6months becuase I am lazy... but when i put them on, along with this 3inch intake i had custom made, it sounded real nice when low it sounded like my brothers 92 camaros flow master exhaust... but when i got it up high rpms it sounds sorta like a formula 1 car. Almost forgot, my exhaust has been sitting out for 6months in the rain and all, no rust, no signs of wear... so i dunno about this 2 year thing...

maybe they got better?

either way, what does a cat-back from Pacesetter run... $150?? shipped?? includiing muffler. you know what they say "you get what you pay for"

not dissin you for using it or anything. it's just my opinion and what i've personally seen from friends cars. if it works for you and lasts... more power to you!

personally... mandrel tubing is mandrel tubing... and what your saying is... if i crapped up a muffler but priced it at a grand, you'd buy it and think it was awesome, while a friend of yours got a muffler for 20bux that actually works, but you'd diss your friend for only paying 20 bucks... and mine cost less than 150 for me.. I think I paid around 120... I am just saying... little tiny bit of weld that wasn't cleaned up inside the flange, what little bit there was, was nothing to complain about cause there was really not that much... I mean if i really wanted to and it annoyed me, it would take me all but 30 seconds to clean it flush with a dremel... BUT I won't buy any more PaceSetter after this because of the bad expierence I am having with their quickshifters, which I sent them an email about and have yet to get any reply...

im a pipefitter by trade, i own a mandrel bender and was going to do a custom exhaust....i didnt specify that in ym original post..i am only going to use the exhaust and the tips...i would inspect any weld before it was installed and reinforce the welds if they were bad...i was just curious about the sound....i saw a late model civic vtech that had the monza tips on it and at WOT it sounded like an F-1 car, but i didnt know for sure if he was runing a complete monza system or not...i appreciate the warning, but i will handle anything that i consider to be nasty fabrication long before i have to worry about it falling off due to rust...thanks for the info icedragon, that is exactly what i wanted to know!

personally, i disagree with everyone here. i own a triumph tr6. pacesetter makes an awesome exhaust for the tr6. 150$? maybe for an eclipse, but for my tr it was over 400. i personally think its the best sounding aftermarket exhaust ive ever heard. my tr6 has an inline six cylinder, and this exhaust makes it sound like a v12 or something. the build quality was very good. and, it was fully coated in rust-resistant paint. that was 6 years ago.

A friend of mine had the monza on his crx and it sounded real good but about a year later it was rusted. One day he hit a bump and the muffler hit the ground and fell off cause of the corrosion.

Now here is something else u can try contact summit racing and buy there dnx mid pipe it goes from the cat all the way back and all you would need is the muffler. When I checked it out it had nice welds, stainless steel and chrome finish and 2 3/4 piping. Oh and all that for 110 bucks. a knock off muffler from ebay and you would be set.

I bought the monza catback system and a straight pipe and i hated the sound the muffler made it was way to loud and was a raspy annoying sound so the next day i put the muffler that was on my before that on and it sounded alot better the piping seems to be great and good quality and an exelent fit but i didnt like the muffler. :laser:
