Hey Guys:

This is a long story so i'll warn you now.

About two years ago my Eclipse was involved in a front end collision. The impact was from a telephone pole that hit just to the right of passenger side bumper bracket support. The force was enough to push the passenger side fender back to almost touching the door. The hood, front bumper, passenger side headlight, radiator support, MAS, air box, Fuse Panel, charcoal canister, radiator, a/c condensor, center member, motor mount, axle, fog light, steering rack, and air bags all needed replacing. To make a long story short the appraiser deemed the car a total loss. I did a buy back and had the car pieced back together for 6000.00 by a body shop.

I put the car away for the winter because it was having problems starting in the cold weather and it was too cold to work on it at the time. Come springtime I fix the starting problem. I noticed that the recycle/fresh air handle wasn't moving so I looked and found that the air exchanger box was cracked and pushed a little not allow the flaps to close. The a/c evaporator box was also cracked. After replacing these I found that the a/c compressor was also damaged. I soon became a mechanic fixing little problems on my car that I had before and after the accident. I decided to put a body kit on it and paint it. The kit is on and the car is finally ready for paint.

I noticed that a support bracket was missing from the sub-frame on the passenger side and thought to myself that they probably forgot to replace that when installed the steering rack. I ordered a new one and went to town replacing it...RUTROH!...None of the holes line up. I ordered a sub-frame and replaced that and had a problem putting a bolt in so I left it out. Now the caster is off about an inch pushed back on the passenger side of the car. I checked all the suspension parts and they are not bent I look underneath the car and the floor panel is buckled! As far as I can tell the body shop did a hack job and pulled the sub-frame out to get the caster right but didn't pull the unibody like they should have!!! The fender holes were oblonged and the fender pulled back in to position that way.

So, I have a car that is ready for paint and has a bent unibody. How much do you think it is going to cost to have a frame shop pull the front passenger side out??

any help would be appreciative

are you talking about a 96 eclipse....because if you are, the money your put into it fixing it, you could have bought another. your looking at a few more bills to get the car back to normal.

Could have, should have, if I've known. It is too late to call it quits.

You may not have a choice. Straightening unibody cars is very iffy, so much so that many shops won't do it.

But it's impossible to guess how much without knowing how much.

yea my friend did something similar to his car, the shop told him it wasnt worth fixing the floor and trying to fix it could actually make it worse. if i was you, id find a car just like yours and part yours out / use it to fix up a car thats not bent

You can find rolling chassis relatively cheep man.... cut your losses while you can, and ditch your shell, and get a new one- pull the motor, trans, etc. anything you think is worth while, and just throw it into another 95 or 96.
