painting my rims need clearcoat?( i searched)

yes i searched...

i have 98 tsi rims on my 95 tsi. i want the rims flat black, im worried if i do put on clearcoat it will make the rims shiny. do i need clearcoat? or would it be ok on its own if im using krylon flat black paint
