My sunroof falls and I keep thinking the glass will shatter!

Is the factory flip up sunroof on a 1gb suppose to have a locking device of some kind to keep it in place? All mine does is flip up and that is the only thing keeping it in place is its degree of angle. I hit a bump and it slams down back into place. I am about ready to hold it up with zipties if I can't find a way to fix it. I haven't messed with it or inspected it much because it hasn't held much concern for me, but lately how hard it slams down I keep thinking I will get a lap full of glass. Does anybody have any ideas or would you mind checking your sunroof out quick and let me know if yours snaps in place? Thank a lot!

Try to find some thing to shim it with. Wood, Metal. Just anything hard that can hold the weight of the glass. Hope that helps Brandon.

it kind of snaps into place when you put it up all the way. when you put it down, you have to pull front on the latch alittle to get it past its little "snap" point. what i have found is that on my car, the latch has begun to wear out, and doesnt snap into place. or the latch could just be loose...thats a problem i had on my other car.

mine does that too, now i usually just leave it up for heat release when parked for long, otherwise i go through the hassle of taking it out if i really want the open roof thing...but thats a pain in the ass too, gotta open the hatch, put it back in just to lock the car and run into wal-mart
