I am getting engine noise out of both of my right speakers. I have an external amp, new speakers and I made sure the amp and the deck were grounded well. The noise seems to be getting louder as time goes by. The only two things I can think of that are causing it are either that the power wire runs along the right side of my car, or a noise canceler needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know if the 1g has such a thing and where it is if there is one?

Thanks,
Jeff

are your rcas and power wire ran down the same side? what type of amp is it? is your gain set up high?

what happens when you flip your rcas?

do you have the head grounded at the same point as the amp?

no, my power is run down the side and the RCA's are run in the middle
The amp is a US acoustics
No, the gain is not set up high

I haven't tried flipping the RCA's recently, but I had done it before with no improvement.
The amp is grounded on a rear seatbelt bolt, and the head is grounded up on the inner part of the dash.

There are no noise cancellers in our cars?

Thanks for the help guys

you are supposed to ground your head unit to the the back wire in the wire harness, that may be your problem. do your left speakers have any noise? us acoustics make good amps, you must just have a small problem along the way somewhere

might be a ground loop. I have the same issue in my car, gonna figure it out as soon as i have a decent day.

Ground loop? what is this exactly?

Also, i have the head unit grounded in the harness and I also soldered an extra wire to a bolt on the back of the unit. All of these wires are tied together and grounded up to the dash. The reason I grounded to the back of the actual HU is because I had some problems with my sub amp before.

Yes, USAcoustics are very good amps, so I don't believe it is an internal problem, and my HU is a pioneer that is probably 4 years old, but I still don't think that would be causing it.

Thanks for any more advice guys,

Jeff

from my understanding it's when you ground two different audio componants in two different places and the ability (quality) of the ground is different and causes a voltage to go over the RCA's.

Your problem sound more like interference that is entering the speaker wires via a passing power wire. Are all of your speaker wires a few feet from any other wires?

On mine i grounded the deck and the amp to the same place, all the power wires down the passenger side, the RCA's down the middle and all the speaker wires down the driver side.

Also, what guage speaker wire are you using?

I had the same problem with mine humming on the right side also. After tracing all of the wires for a few weeks, I found that one of my speaker teminals was grounding to the chassis on the right rear. Reason being was that my boston 6.5 needed a little more mounting depth than what my car had. I used a plastic ring to space the speaker out 1/4" and it cured my problem.

yeah, sounds like a short to me.

Is the side that makes noise quieter than the other side?
