I read a few posts about this, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I want to take the Eclipse lettering off the center taillight piece but I wanted to see a few pics of what it will look like first. Maybe some pics during the day. The only one I saw was at night. Anyone? Thanks.

look in the altezza pole thread there are a few pics there i think it looks really good like that though personaly

I actually didn't see any on there, I'm not looking to paint in, just keep it red with no letters, but I want to see it first. Thanks

there are some somewhere here on dsmtuners i am just not sure where i actualy think there is a thread talking about it but i cant remember where i saw it do a serch on it.

There are a few threads, one has a pic and it's at night, I'd like to see one during the day. THanks, though.

watch the fast and the furious. the eclipse has the letters off w/ the pannel red like you are asking for.

eek! Don't ues a razor blade! You'll scratch the hell outta the plastic.

I did it during a nice 95+ degree summer day, so no added heat was needed. But if it's not hot enough out to make the glue tacky, then use a hair drier or heat gun.

Pull a corner of each letter up with a small screwdriver or metal punch/pick. Be careful not to slip and scratch the plastic (I did once). Once the corner is up, just grab it with your fingers and peel it off.

Once all the lettering is off, use Goo Gone (preferred) or WD-40 (cheaper) and a rag to clean off all the remaining glue.

Depending on the age of the car, you will still see and outline of the lettering, as the plastic behind it has been covered from the sun and hasn't faded like the rest of the taillight. Kinda looks cool. In fact I've had the entire rear debadged for a few months, and although it's grown on me, it looks TOO plain.

But, mine are just off temporarily, the plastic coating on the letters was flaking off and my GSX sticker kinda feel apart too. Would you beleive I've been waiting 3 months from 2 different dealerships for a stupid GSX decal? No warehouses have them in stock...argh

i've always used a razor blade on many different cars to remove decals, emblems, anything stuck to the car....never scratched anything. i guess you just gotta know what you're doing and take your time.

another good thing to remove the lettering on an eclipse is a putty/spackling knife

a friend of mine who works for saturn uses razor blades to remove decals, etc. which are on the windows of cars...

if you're a skilled guy you can probably remove other items other than window stuff but i wouldn't suggest it.

i'd try and keep the 'eclipse' letters in tack...people will pay money for them.

Ok, I took the letters off yesterday. It was warm enough that I didn't need a hair dryer, and I just used my fingernails to pull them off and used GooGone to get rid of the excess glue. But the letters ripped apart on their way off so I couldn't keep them. It looks MUCH better without them. There is a faint image of the Eclipse logo stil there, but I like it. When it completely fades I won't be too upset though. Thanks everyone.

I'm wondering, has anyone taken the "mitsubishi" letters off the back of a 1g? I'm kind of wondering what it would look like without them.
