I will tell you right no only put on a oem top
my top was cut and stereo stolen and ins put on a aftermarket top and it noe has hole in it sence the rear wind is diffrent
oem only

Allow me to try and translate:

"I will tell you right now, only put on an OEM top. My top was cut and [the] stereo [was] stolen, and the [insurance] put on an aftermarket top.
It now has a hole in it since the rear wind ['"Window"?] is different. [I recommend] OEM only.

Good christ.

Your best bet like everyone else said is to go with a Mitsu top. I deal with aftermarket parts alot at a body shop and you get lucky if they are usable! Most of the time fit and finish are poor, but like some others said on here sometimes it's just as good.

When I purchased my Spyder in Dec 02 the Tan top was trashed. Part of the contract purchase agreement was to put a new top on...The car was sent to an Upholstery shop in Riverside Ca, and they did the work...
The top was from Tops-Online.com. The new black top looks great, but it leaks around the contact points a little (just occasional drips during heavy rain)

Word of advice...Scotchguard your top once a year, and keep it clean...If you put the top up and down with excess dirt in the material it will start to break it down. Also put the top down after washing it to clean the rubber btw the windshield, windows and top. This keeps the seal nice, and reduces wind leaking into the cabin.

Oh, and if you have the ugly ass tan top please change it to another color JK :D

I have a 1998 spyder Gst. I was going to have a relative repair my seams around the windows because they were comming unstitched. However, while I was staying down to the beach someone thought that my top looked like a ashtray and burnt a ugly hole in it. So, now I have no choice to buy a new top.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend what type of top is best. Are the OEM tops just as good as factory ones? I have found some tops on the internet for like 350.00 but they are not factory tops. What is the difference between canvas and vinyl? I really don't like going to the dealership for parts because they are too high and the only mitsu dealership near me is not very good.

Can anyone recommend a good website to purchase them from? Does anyone know of a place in Dover, Delaware area that can install the top, that does a good job?

Thanks for your help!

Guys,
I'm sure this question has been brought up before, but I couldn't find any recent posts.

I'm in the market for a new roof for my Spyder. The stitching around the rear glass has disintegrated and it's starting to show it's age. So it’s now time for a new one.

What do you guys recommend? EZ-ON Brand Top, ROBBINS Brand Top, Stayfast, Pinpoint? Etc ……
Where did you guys buy yours from? How much was it and how was the service?
Who attempted to install it themselves and how did that work out?

Anything else I need to know …
Thanks
Peepers

alright, so my rear window on my convertible top is starting to pull out...thinking I need to replace that soon before winter gets here(Wisconsin)...I'm thinking the EZ-ON brand is the way to go from what I can read. Am I right to go with that brand? Also, what place has these for the best price?? anyone know? I'm going to go with the stayfast material(believe that's the one that is same as factory). This will be the first time me and a friend will have done a convertible top, anything special we need to know??
