Alright...easy question...what is the best paint to buy for interior painting... I've tried some special interior paints...but the ones i've tried suck :thumbdown ... What works the best?

well i am in the process of interior accenting and i have tried a couple paints. but the best one, and the one im using, is Krylon Fusion plastic paint. give the peices some adhesive, paint, adhesive, paint...until you like it and it is good. mine hven't chipped, cracked, or scratched at all. so there ay go Krylon Fusion plastic paint.

I prefer automotive Dupli-color myself. Ive had it in my interior on some trim for almost a year now and have had no chips. I'm also finishing my whole interior as we speak, using dupli-color all the way! :thumb:

BTW.. where in Mi are you?

Get some automotive primer from the automotive section at Walmart, then just use the Color Place Paint thats 96 cents at Walmart. It will work just fine if you prep it right.

But if you want quality I agree with 96_Talon, the automotive dupli-color is probably the best choice in terms of rattle can quality.

krylon is okay, main thing? dont let people touch it, kick it, try and scratch it with nails, etc. then anything will look good.

just use Krylon fushion check my interior pics. Only thing is I tried laquer thinner, scotch pads, paint thinner, gum-out, windex, rubbing alcohol, priming, and nothing seems to remove the natural oils from the plastic. So it takes a couple coats, just make sure you build the coats up and spray even thin coats. It says it is chip resistent after 7 days, so I'll see then, since I just finished it last night

i have used krylon fusion, but I dont like it. I used Rustoleum's PAINT FOR PLASTIC lineup of colors and it went on the pieces really smooth and covered fast, even the stuff i didn't prep.

I sanded, prepped, primed, and pained with exterior car paint it as been on for about 1 year still looks fine. I used fusion on some of the smaller pieces I could not sand and it is awesome with just wiping then off with alcohol the fusion would not come off.

A good prep is to use dish washing liquid and a stiff bristle scrub brush and scrub it good. When you're done, it should feel very different, very dry, not slick. Then, you should use rubbing alchoul if you touch it and once you do that, you should be using rubber gloves to handle the pieces. I've painted several pieces with just the dish washing liquid prep and they've lasted years.

Remember, several light coats. Take your time, this is one thing you don't want to rush.

i have seen both good and bad outcomes from fusion paint. it says no prep...but cleaning the parts is still important.

i have used krylon paint, and has been in my car for 2 or more years now. even painted the knobs for the climate controls which get uses alot and never wore off.
