Just wondering, what security devices or other alarms do you use in your car besides the basic car alarm? Anybody had their parts stolen or whatever?

i have an Alpine sec-100 alarm, i love it. it does exactly what i want it to do. it has 3 aux. buttons, so i could hook up remote start, neons, system, etc etc also. i had my drivers side window smashed out in a little "crime spree" around my town about 2 months ago, i took my system out THAT very day and that night it got broken into, just cds and change missing, i had the alarm uninstalled at that time, after that happened, it got installed right way and no problems since.

i am getting the ungo S5200 with remote start and 2 way lcd remote and window roll down. right now i have the factory alarmed with keyless...do i need to remove the factory alarm to install this one?

Most alarms will have a factory alarm bypass wire.

I have a Delta Panther two way pager lcd system w/remote start.

Are you talkin 'bout under the hood security? You could rig up some trick hood pins so that no one can open it. Some alarms have an aux. that will sound the alarm if the hood is opened.

viper 891...remote start, 2 way pager...love it but cost an arm and a leg.

I second that.

Also, I have the keypad ignition starter from www.electronicauto.com, I love it. I also got the VR4 caliper brackets from them and am about to install the 4 piston VR4 brakes on my GSX. Should be very sexy.

I have a vigilant owner with a shotgun. That works pretty good at detering theives so far. :thumb:

I'm up most of the night as I used to work graveyard shift, and i was always outside

in my old apartment complex thare was a rash of burgalries, on the north side and southside of the complex, but there was not one in the center parking lot that my apartment was in... despite my and about 3-4 other cars having audio shop and prduct stickers on or windows etc.

Mine are gone now though... Stealth is best.

How much does something like that cost?

Also if you've never installed an alarm before, how diffcult can it be? Something I should watch out for?

I have the compustar 2WFM, which has a 2way pager, remote start, turbo timer, aux's, etc..

And also, it's pretty easy to car alarms with the DSM - there is a door lock/unlock wire set under the passenger kick panel that controls it.

But as for the compustar, i am pretty impressed with it. It isn't as much as most ($300) but seems be be quite functional and works well. just thought i'd drop some feedback..
