SO, im doing what the title said, i wired the power and ground....i hooked it up to the door wires for my power locks....and for some reason when i hit the lock or unlock button on the remte...its clicks like its TRYING to operate the switch but yet...doesnt do anything...am i supposed to wire to a certain power source...do i need a relay to provide more power to the switch...im a little stumped here...anyone who has done this to their 1st gen please give a step by step of what you did and where you wired the door controls and power supply...thanks...

in 1g's, the factory power lock switches have a controller which senses when either is switched and this trips the opposite door to unlock or lock to match. The alarm I installed had a +12 and a ground for each the lock and unlock wires. This is what you will need with eclipse wiring. If you have positive wires for lock and unlock, you will have to reverse all of them with relays.

There should be two places to access the lock controller. on the driver side, there is a rack of 3 or so other factory relays. you can unscrew this with two screws (hidden above the floor blower vent) and pull it down. One of these relays will click when you lock or unlock the doors. Use a multimeter to find out which is the 12+ and you shoudl be able to short out the others to test which is lock and which is unlock.

The other access point is behind the passenger side kick panel. should be the same color wires.

If you still need help, or need specific wire colors, i can go check it out for you if you want. Let me know.
