I just recently swapped out the Infinity for an aftermarket head. Sound much better and this is with the factory speakers. Well the only prob I have is with the trim kit they used to cover up the bottom portion of the head. There seems to be small gaps everywhere. Can someone post up pics of 2G aftermarketed heads so I can show Circuit City how it's supposed to look? THANKS!

Sorry about the red, but it's clear. The whole surround, up and around the HVAC controls is one piece. I'm guessing they may have chopped it in the area of the yellow line, which would have been stupid because the factory hole's standard DIN dimensions as are most radios these days. If you got a half-DIN unit, then you either use a trim panel or a cubby in the other half.
Let me know if this isn't the sort of pic you need.

I don't get how they could have dicked it up, unless it was some hokey shop like Circuit Circus.

However, it should also be easy to fix with another trim piece.

Are you talking about the piece thats just below the Head Unit (kinda hard to see)? There are trim kits available at any Walmart or Target for about $ 15 that have that piece in it.

I used the original double din brackets and redrilled then to flush the head unit with edges of the trim piece rather than protruding, and did the same thing with the pocket that sits below it.
Also I don't run a trim ring.

You can play around with fitment all day long as long as you have the metal doubledin brackets and not a lovely $15 plastic mount kit.
If you have a choice on any car always use the factory DIN brackets.

I meant the trim piece in addition to the din brackets. The trim piece attaches to the din brackets and covers up the spot that is open instead of using a pocket. IMO looks better than a pocket.

I use the pocket b/c it holds 3 cds, much better than just blank black ABS to me. Everyone has their own opinion and tastes... that is what is cool aout doing this stuff!

i got mine from circuit city too and they ####ed mine up huge gap put they went and got the right kit from bestbuy and it looks awesome

That's why you do this stuff yourself! No one else will ever care as much about your car as you do and the quality of install will reflect that fact. Get a quality dash kit and redo it yourself.

how much clearance do you have on the gear shift when the 935 is coming out? do you have to go to 2/4/R or Neutral for clearance? (sorry just realized its an auto) DO you have to go out of park for erection/retraction?

Also what is the clearance on the back of the monitor to dash when your Screen is out?

I usually run my faces as close to flush with the factory trim as possible, and i am wondering how far back from standard din I can mount a 935?

Well said, and all too true :thumb:

I have worked for circuit city in the past and you'd be surprised at what a lazy job they do to peoples cars. NOTE: i'm talking about the majority, i'm sure there are some good installers out there

i don't have to move my gearshifter any and the 935 has diffrent angles you can set the screen at as long with depth....it fits perfect and doesn't hit anything...i love it
