im talking dash, carpet, and doors

how much time/money would this take? (not counting the seats)

im considering changing the interior of my car to black so i can easily highlight parts of it like the areas around the vents with yellow paint

any ideas?

i dont know exactly how much...but should range anywhere from 500-1000...since you getting it only 1color shouldnt be much...unless you wanna paint em yourself

I am in the process of painting my interior... and so far i have gone through 2 cans of vinyal paint and 2 cans of carpet paint and one can of black gloss and one can of metalflake and one can of blue and 2 cans of primer.... and i havent done the seats or headliner..

My Eclipse had tan in it when I bought it... I found a totaled Eclipse in the junk yard, and changed every plastic piece to grey. Iwanted the car as dark as possible inside. I bought new factory carpet, and black Tenzo seats. From the b-pillars back...everything is custom made. Mostly painted the same red as the outside of the car.

Also, recovered the head liner in black cloth...as well as the door panels.

I changed the whole inside of my car to black/white. I used vinal paint (4 cans), carpet paint for floor/seats (3 cans). I also changed various plastics to white. It took me about 3 days but you could do it in one and a half with help and worked constantly. I did it by myself and slowly. It cost me about 36 dollars and looks fantastic. Its not proffesional but looks like it is! The paint on the doors will fade after a coupl months so you have to keep up with that though. Not sure about the dash yet but im sure it will fade a bit after a while. It was worth it all though. Just if possible take your time and thoroughly clean all plastics/vinle with degresser! Otherwise the paint will bubble and/or crack. Hope this helps.

i have the tan interior.. but im thinking of using vinal paint to get it black.. i figured it would be much cheaper than getting whole new replacement panels.

how difficult is the process?

thye carpet paint is real good, its not like other paint. it actually dyes the carpet/seats fabric. it will last a long time. with lighter colors its harder to keep nice and clean. You won't be able to get a pure white out of your carpet unless you have a real brite colored carpet.

you cant turn black to any color... you would have to get new carpet.. grey may be easier... but depends on what shade of grey. to get black to red you would have to bleach the whole carpet... and that would be a pain in the butt.

yes my whole int went from light blue to black and silver

mainly silver with black accents
dyed the carpets black with rit dye
did the headliner black with silver visors.. just used to black felt and wrapped the headliner
had black gtr racing seats and no back seat

if i kept the eclipse i was going to finish it and do the main dash it was still blue because im lazy and didnt want to take it all apart one day..
and i was going to make my own carpet to cover the missing back seat or build a rack for something there...www.pbase.com/evan2
look for the pics section

shouldnt be that much. depends on if u do it urself and what kind of paint u use. i probably spent 150-200 TOPS not counting the seats

it used to be blue

well im in the middle of changin the interior of my car from the stock grey to black and gold,i just started last weekend and it took several hours to gut the interior,so its deffinetly not something to start unless youve got a couple days to dedicate to the job....

yes they do make dye but it is very expensive to get. i looked into it andit was cheaper for me to have an import shop do it for me, they charged me 250 to dye my dash if i took it out ant it was a pain in the a$$

i painted my carpet with the same vynal spray that i painted my platic interior parts with it all works the same. check my gallery. the paint is only 4 dollars a can at autozone i probly used about 25 cans all together

how much did that cost you???

i spent like around $150 i think. i painted everything in the interior, did the carpet, the back seats, and redid the headliner. i would recommend getting premolded carpet thats already the color you want, they make them in red and lots of colors.

Ive changed my interior from stock tan, to rice white, and now stock dark grey. all i can say is take your time with the paint. mine came out all right, but it was to refective and lil' to ricey. btw, taking off the one-piece dash by yourself is one of the hardest things you will ever do...
