Should I custom paint or not?

Okay,I want lots of opions on this.My 97 Eclipse GS is that purple color straight from the factory(I forget the name).I'm thinking of painting it next income tax return but I'm not sure if I should. The paint is very good as it is.It really glissins in the sun and has virtually no scrachtes or dings,it's perfect. The only thing that bothers me is it's very difficult to keep clean. But It's very good paint by PPG.The thing is,I really like flashy cars. This may sould wak,but I loved the cars from the F&F.I was thinking yellow or bright blue.So should I?If so,what color do you think? Also, since I don't have a scanner,so here's what else I've done with the exterior,Terminator2 wing, dropped 2 inches, and Altezzas.Later,ya'll!!

First--get a scanner--or the law will get that income tax return, then it really a matter of taste, personally, i am a minimalist-i like them to guess if i can walk the walk or not-and if a can't well oh well, but if rice boy gets burnt--Hahaha ;)

Umm,what does having a scanner on my computer have to do with the law getting my income tax return?

dont get a retina burning color

number one you stand out in a crowd when you speed
number two the brigher it is, the better it reflects radar

imo a dark, deep ass red or cherry is pimp as #@%#@%#@%#@%. thats what i want.

Yeah, that's why I'm been really thinking about the blue.Plus,my car has a tan interior so I doubt yellow would look good.I can't think of the name, but you know that blue they offer on the new Mustangs? That's the blue I'm thinking of.

personally, i think that purple color is ghey. a nice silver or electric blue would be awesome.

Do you really think so?The only thing that stops me is that it looks so purfect now.

try to get a picture asap....but judging by you saying your car has on scratch's no nottin...why bother with a paintjob...just keep it

I personally like green, hunter green, forest green and all those colors on cars.:) Simplicity is the key.

Yeah,I'm sorry about not havin' a picture.I can't afford a scanner or digital camera(well,I could, but I'd rather buy upgrades for my engine and whatnot).Yeah,it's a really nice color and all. It's not like other purples. It does stand out.Of cours,I'm sure you've seen the color too. It's just really hard to keep clean. But I guess you could look at it this way;I'm always complaining I don't have much power.I could use that 2-3000 dollars & sink it into the engine. It's a 420a,but it's not that bad of an engine as some people say.Oh,well,later.

I want to paint my car with the paint they use on spy planes like the stealth bomber! No reflective, With dull side windows and no lights that are visable unlite! That would be cool! Every one would just think your cheap and only primed your car though!

i've seen it done...not necessarily black...but looked like a dull (primed) color....i hear it's radar/laser undetectable, hmmmm, might be a good idea;)

Rocky- as far as painting your car, honestly if your stock paint job is in good condition now, i wouldn't mess with it just yet. bottomline is you're never going to get as good of a paintjob as the factory does. so unless you just really don't care or you really need it...i'd leave my factory paint alone.

Ummm, this wouldn't work. It is really not just "paint" that makes stealth aircraft "stealth". It is more geometry and construction materials. No paint exists that would allow you to paint your car and remain invisible to radar. I would be willing to bet that no commercially available paint exists that would even REDUCE your radar signature. Sorry, better invest in V1, Escort or Bel.

like i said, i've seen it done and it works. radar works via reflection. the paint these guys use does not reflect. and radar detectors are useless with laser and flip on radar....

Bottom line is that color changes make your car WORTH LESS. I've been there, done that. Unless you paint the door jambs, under hood, engine bay, trunk, etc. then your car is worth less than if you just left it alone. That's something to consider cause you know you're just gonna wanna sell it next year and get a turbo model. But since you asked,, I like 2001 Dodge Durango "intense blue pearl." That's the color I chose for my car and it looks great with white rims.

No,acually,I plan on keeping this car for a very long. I know people laugh when I say this, but I'm goin' to make my 420a fast if it kills me. And I'm also goin' to do this without the aid of a turbo or nos. I know that with enough porting & polishing, building the bottom end, computer upgrades, etc, anything's possible. I do believe it is possible for the 420a to be fast without going turbo. I'm going to prove it!!! Oh,& if anyone has to know why I didn't buy a turbo to begin with,I have a very bad driving record and would cost a small fortune on insurance every month.:)

like ur ideas -- i think u should go to ur local body shop and ask them to let u look at the 2002 or 2001 PPG paints -- u get to look at all the paints from all the makers -- im sure there is a color that will click

also as far as black primer goes, it doesn't work against police scanners--TRUST ME!!! ($140.00 ticket for speeding)

Yes....DO IT! A custom paint job is worth every penny you spend. This is your way of truly making your car your own. Go crazy too if you want. If you go all out like my car....you can really piss some people off too.... It causes alot of controversy.....it also costs big bucks...
I say DO IT....its a blast......
