palos park,
has any of you guys painted you rcar a different color? I was wondering to know how much would it be to get it painted another color?

I believe for a good paint job, it will cost you around $1,500 to $2,000.

And before you go to the shop, make sure you see their work.

=^.^=

I had a friend get a $400 paint job at Maaco. It does not look like $2000 paint job and they don't do the door jambs, under the hood, trunk/hatch etc. Just the outside. If you don't want to spend a whole lot to look better this is an option, although not the best possible one.

I agree, I've had several cars painted at Maaco. The one I got on my Eclipse I did the jambs myself, and paid extra for them to do a urethane base/clear paintjob. 4 year warranty. It looks good for $438, but they don't do any buffing so there is gonna be the occasional speck of dust in the finish. Overall, I was pretty satisfied.

Maacos is good if you do all the prep work and taping. Anything left un masked will get painted or some paint on it. It depends on how much you are looking to spend also. Obviously, the more money to put out, the better the job will be.

i used to have an 88 iroc and i had a 97 viper blue paint jop sprayed and i had it done at maaco, i think they did a damm good job that bad boy sparkled in the sun like no other. Im looking ot get my laser painted there. i am doing a dark grey metallic with a black flat hood. viscious i know. keep boostin biii-attcchhhh!!!!

Do not get your car painted at Maaco unless you don't plan on keeping it for more than 2 years or you want to repaint it every 2 years. I'm sure whatever color your car is from the factory is better than anything from Maaco. If you care anything about quality, spend the $2000 that it will cost you. It will be worth it in the long run, I plan on spending probably more than that on a paint job (and that's doing the labor myself). Good luck!

Big, the only paint job that could *possibly* cost more than 2k without the prepwork and all, is chameleon

thats because its 500+ dollars a gallon

most of what you pay for when you get a paint job is prepwork so 2000 is exaggerating

a good paint job in whatever color can run past 2K...even for a single color paint.

my cheap chameleon effect paint + body work ran me 5K...right cucumber? ;)

:laser: I paid $1850 CAD for a really nice paint job. I priced the job out at a couple of big-name body shops on main street, and they were quoting me $2500 and up for just a basic repaint - no wheels, no extras. Then a neighbour told me about a small bodyshop way out in the boonies. It was a run-down old building that looked like something out of Bagdad. But inside was a fully modern paint booth with all the toys. The guy was even about $50 under his quote of $1900!

For that, he also painted the wheels (I have a thing for painted wheels), the black roof, and the garish grey plastic on the lower body. I stuck pretty close to the original factory colour, but it's my impression that the cost is pretty much similar regardless of the colour (maybe a bit less if it's a more forgiving non-metallic paint).

What kind of paint are you gettin that would cost in excess of 2k? I just priced three colors, a gallon each, at about 700, indy green over a shamrock green base coat and a very nice silver for the graphic. About 250 a gallon and each gallon makes 2 gallons of product. Are you sure you priced it right?

I am in the process of painting my car right now, and it is very easy to exceed $2000. After you factor in the cost of supplies (sand paper, cleaners) and all the different components used to prep the car (I have spent about $400 in DuPont primer alone) you can easily hit $700 just on the supplies it will take to prime the car. The paint and clear itself can easily be in excess of $600, then you still need good buffing compounds, more sandpaper, and on top of it all, labor.

well a full color change
New hood
Rear bumper body work

Complete color change fire wall door jambs inside truck everything you cannot anywhere tell my car was green. Was 7000 canadian. Thats alot of money I know but its a complete change done the right way. Any less then 5000 would be half ass job IMO because I know whats involved.

i just got my car painted
1400 dollars
