How do u go about doing this becuase I plan to paint my valve cover as well as my intake to match colors, but i dont know how to paint intake since its polished metal. do i prime, etc..?? what steps do i take. I want to paint it either wine red, black, or Si blue
 
Hose it down with brake cleaner or the like. Modern spray paints should adhere fine, so long as it's free of oil, wax and grease. If you're sure you will always keep it painted, you may want to scuff the shine off first with some 600-grit.
