I have always been a fan of the stock hoods with the hood bump. The hood bump is one of the better things about dsm's

that is true, I like the oem style hood also but with my Greddy Header I wanted the vented hood to help keep engine bay temp down a little, I do not use header wrap on my everyday driver it looks like shit. I use it on my race car though

Would like to see it with a bumper and a fender shot. Things look diffrent onthe road, than on some jackstands.

my low profile, almost inconspicuos hood vent:

I'm not a fan personally of the big openings, and cowl-style vents in hoods. just my opinion though

no it is an invader carbon fiber from vis racing for 1gb (92-94)
i got it on ebay

Wish they would make them for the 1Ga.. I would just have it painted red like the rest of my car. I dont care if some think it looks ricey, with that big of a vent, hell yes! Because I have not seen a single well vented 1Ga hood.. And you know your T-belt gets so damn hot, it NEEDS all that cool air. I also like the placement of the vent, it's right where it needs to be to suck out the hot air from the exhaust.

I do agree that the stock hood LOOKS better, but I want that hot air out of my engine bay. And the hood dont look all THAT bad. I would want to see it on a 1Ga before I put down any money though, IF they made them. Which I dont think they do.

A DSM without the power buldge isn't a DSM at all! At least thats what I think. :thumb:

thats sweet. i will prolly just get the carbontrix.com vent for my stock hood until i feel the need to spend money on the looks. although i would mainly get it for the weight savings. does anyone know the weight of the cf hood and the fiberglass hood? also where do they sell the fiberglass hood?

I would agree. That vent serves no purpose there.

The most useful place would be over your exhaust manifold (using a vent that makes a low pressure area to pull air out.) I plan to do this before summer, as it can hit 100+ where I live.

Perhaps a NACA type duct for the air intake.

like mentioned above... i didn't really do it for performance reasons, but more for the look of it. Personally, i'm very very please with the way it looks. i know it really serves no purpose where it is, but IMO it would have looked dumb being the middle of the hood, or on the left over the filter area.

Honestly, it was done for looks only. any air that goes in there *may* or may not help to cool the engine bay, but that was not really a thought that crossed my mind while doing it. i just thought it would look cool, and i'm happy with it!

Performance wise, that is obviously not the best place for it.

I remember a while ago I saw a picture of some guy with a carbon fiber hood and he had vent where the exhuast manifold was at. I was wondering what if I bought a carbon fiber hood would I be able to mold on the carbon fiber vent onto it or just screwing it on or what?
