I'm trying to clean my headlights as described in http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58328 , however I can't find 1000/1500 grit sand paper... I tried a few hardware, home improvement, arts/crafts, and auto stores with no luck. Also can't find white/black foam buffing pads... anyone know what kind of store may carry these items? I'm gonna try a bunch of auto paint/body shops tomorrow, but has anyone found these in a major chain store?

Same deal with white/black foam buffing pads.

As for the rubbing compund, anyone know if I should look for any specific one?

the sand paper they have at strauss auto . thats were i got mine .Its usually by the bondo and fiberglass.

Walmart and Kmart both have sandpaper up to 1500 gritt! just look a little harder!

When i cleaned up my headlights, i was on the hunt for that stuff too, found sandpaper at wal-mart, home depot, autozone, pepboys... not hard to find, and if you ask them to find and they can't, dont believe that ish, go look for yourself, many times i found crap after i asked them and just laugh at them!

the pads, yeah i went to a local body automotive place, easy stuff...

REMEMBER TO KEEP EVERYTHING WET!:D

I got the sand paper at wal-mart also. I did my headlights this weekend. I didn't use a buffer, just rubbing compound(also wal-mart) and an old cotton t-shirt. Turned out as good as new, no visible scratches and they are smoooooooth.

Yeah i just did this as well, i got 1000 and 1500 wet/dry sandpaper (can be bought at kmart, walmart, autozone, advanced auto, etc.), then after wetsanding through all the grits use mags metal polish, it will look clear after this step but not shiny, then get another polish for fiberglass and plastic, after using the last polish the headlights will look brand new, good luck bro
