I wanna black dash but dont want to spend a lot of money on it since its really only a preference thing. Anyone know where can get cheap. also no junk yards around me carray talons/eclispes

What color is your dash now.? I never understood why I have a black dash with a tan interior.. I didn't like it at first but I guess it kind of grew on me.

all spyders came with a black dash

No they didnt. Some came with grey interior including dash.Mine for instance. I would trade for a black any day though..But now I am flocking my dash to make it like I want it and to go along with the rest of my interior.

i love the black and tan mix but now that im stuck with gray i was going to go black dash , black carpet, then keep gray seats and such that have black lines in them.

I think you can buy like a dye spay that will work on any plastic panel in your car.I hear it works pretty good too.Anyone hear of it besides me?

im so afraid to use paint as i dont think that ti would eb able to hold up with sun/ heat and all that .

don't worry about the heat affecting it. my talon spent a year in phoenix az where it's 110 for 4 months out of the year and it didnt' fade or peel at all. interior temps would shoot to 160 but i had no problems.

Hey listen!
Before you go ripping out everything and painting it all over there are a few tips I need to give you so you end up with a HIGH QUALITY product.
I have done all of my interiors on eery car that I have ever owned and I feel I have some tips that can save you a lot of headaches.
First Use common sense when you are doing this!
1.) Store bolts and screws (you'll have a ton of them!!!!!!) in plastic bags marked with a description of where they came from. i.e. Drivers Door Panel etc..

2.) take some time and take the pieces apart. (overspray is nasty looking and any pro wouldnt have any.) So for example When your doing the door take your time and take the defrost vent on the top of the door out! dont try to tape it. it wont look good.

3.) There are hidden screws often in many places. DONT GET FRUSTRATED AND PULL HARD!!!!! You will end up doing ireparable damage and end up with rattles everywhere.

4.)When doing your dash make sure and remove it! Many people try to paint there dash in there car. It hardly ever comes out clean. Plus you will get spray all over your windows.

5.) Lastly dont tape off unless you have to. Remember that when the designers made the car they went piece by piece so they rarely make pieces 2 in 1.

Well there you go good luck and if you arent going to do it patiently DONT DO IT!! It will end up worse then the nasty grey blue color.

The krylon FuZion is a good paint becuase it bonds to the surface well. I however use a high gloss standard krylon paint with a well prepped surface and havent cracked it once. Also for extra protection use Krystal Clear Acrylic Coating from Krylon.

GOOD LUCK

ehhhhhhhh i would rather go with trying to find a black spyder dash. I am by far not the expert at painting and i wouldnt chance something this big. , unless someone wants to do it for me for a case of beer ! :thumb:

I've also been interested in doing this, but 2 tone, both black and dark blue. What kind of prepping is needed for the dash/panels? Would you need to sand at all or would a good cleaning be enough?

don't sand it just clean it to remove all surface oils. it's the oils that cause the paint to not stick.

just use rubbing alcohol to clean it with and some paper towels.

for some reason i just cant see painting a dash. I guess it because everyone that i saw that did it before , you can just tell its been painted. Like it doesnt look right. like i said before it something that i wouldnt chance.

black and blue !!!!!!!! :barf: (j/k)

my dash turned out well.... check out my gallery.. i went from grey to black... i used the black dye paint out of a can!!! i was skeptical, but i prep'd it with alcohol and put several coats on it... i was happy with the end result..:thumb:
