I couldn't find a diagram on the Radio Shack site, so I'm not sure how you adjust it. Most like it has two pins on it that you put a resistor between, and the resistance of the resistor sets the voltage. That's my guess anyway. I have only used their fixed 5v regulator ($1.49 ), so I don't know what this one looks like exactly.

The back of the package should have a diagram that shows you how to vary the voltage, so you can decide when you look at it if you think you can swing it or not. It's probably pretty simple.

I'm a pretty amateur electronics hobbyist, but I would be happy to try and help you figure it out if you send me a picture or something. But it should be simple.
