parts needed for pre-turbo

hello all, I am planning to purchace a turbo kit within the next year, becuase i will have the money, but until i do i wanted to prepare my car as much as possible before doing so i.e exhaust build internals, cams, pulleys, etc. i know that if i do all of these alone i will gain a little horsepower but if i were to get 3'' exhaust (i was thinking about thermal) and equipped it before i turboed,. then will i loose a lot of low end due to the loss of backpressure?
also, what are some key pre-turbo upgrades that i should look into?

the only mods where you will really notice a gain in power now would be a throttle body, some port n polishing, and a udp. the rebuilt bottom end would hurt your power because you would have low compression for the turbo. the cams wouldnt give you enough of an increase because the ones you would want would be designed for a turbo equipped engine. also look into an safc2 and a b&m shortshifter; they arent necessities but are very nice to have
