After converting my friends 91 tsi awd auto to 5 speed (full conversion-turbo, injectors, ecu etc...) my other friend with a 92 esi wants to turbo his car with the old auto turbo parts. So I have been searching for info, found lots of the remaining parts for him, and started to plan out our attack. He decided he wants to leave the 4g63 N/T motor alone and only run 8psi. The only problem I see is actually getting it to hold only 8psi. We will be using the auto 13b turbo and wastegate actuator which I beleive is the same actuator as the 14b actuator. This means even without a mbc, the car will run 10-11 pounds of boost. We dont want this much boost. How can we get 8 psi without getting an external wastegate setup? I would rather use a completely stock setup for this project. Keep in mind my friend doesnt want to spend much, he doesnt care he wont be able to turn up the boost untill he does the bottom end and he definately cant afford a Tial or custom exhaust manifold setup. Any ideas would be appreaciated!!

Thanx
Rob

if you cant afford a different external wastegate you have to get a boost controller.

Manual Boost Controller

You can get a good manual controller for 70 bucks, since he wont be turning it up or messing with the boost much..a manual controller would work just fine. theres also a sorta manual sort of electronic boost controller on that page for 175$. Its manual but has a knob you can adjust from inside the cockpit.

MBC's make boost higher than stock, not lower. With the MBC not even connected to one of my two talons, they run 10-11 psi. Opening the boostcontroller all the way up is like its not even there. Closing it will result in higher than factory boost levels. (10-11psi) So how do I get 8?

I was thinking if he got a greddy type s or any other after market adjustable bov, I might be able to set it up to leak out the extra 2-3 psi. Any thoughts on this?
