Fuel Pressure Regulator

I'm hoping to finish my turbo kit install tommorow, but I need a fuel pressure regulator. Will an aftermarket regulator for the turbo models work? I'm looking to order one tonight from a local store, so it will be here tommorow.

Nope it won't work. You need an SFMU or an FMU. Or some other rising rate regulator. What turbo do you plan to use?

It's a turbonetics t3. and yes on a 420a.

Will the car be mobile without the FMU? I'm going to order a vortech SFMU tommorow.

I wouldn't even attempt to boost with out it... but that is just me.

You run the risk of ruining your engine, the FMU will increase fuel pressure proprotionally to the amoutn of boost pressure. Meaning, your engine wont be lean on fuel... which leads to boom.

so a fuel pressure regulator wont work on a 1998 eclipse 420a eiether then rite...... does that mean i have to get a sfmu too.. if i go turbo ?

Yes you will always need a boost dependent fuel pressure regulator. The SFMU and the FMU from vortech are the only ones I have experience with that allow you to raise ratios like 12:1. Most of the other ones I have worked with have been 1:1 regulators which will not work in your car unless you have a stand alone fuel system or some other means of controlling fuel that does not involve the stock ECU.

Well what size turbo will you use? And will you be using stock injectors?

Well the star kit comes with the FMU and it has the 12:1 disk already in it. So if you are staying with the stock injectors then there is no reason to change the disk. I would reccomend staying at 8psi though.
