hey guys, my friend owns a shop and turbos a lot of cars. he said that for a good price (way better than a turbo kit price) that he can turbo my car. He said he can get me either 16g or t3/t4 turbo, a spearco FMIC, and blowoff valve (forget what kind) and hell do all the piping and such. I was thinking taht since my motor (420a) cant hold much boost that i would want to go with the 16g, and run maybe 5 or 6 pounds. My questions are as follows: about how much horsepower will i have, what will my quarter mile time be, and could i keep up with stock gst's:confused: . By the way i ahve a 1999 eclipse rs. I know these questions are very vauge but any input will be helpful thanks. :dsm:

a little too vague. ask him if the price that hes given you includes a new fuel pump to compensate for the airflow that the turbo is giving you.

w/ a t3/t4 turbo and a front mount you would be able to smoke stock gst's. after all, gst's have forged internals, we dont (RS/GS), with a 16G or a t3/t4 its a bigger turbo, front mount, more air flow, which will make you faster than a stock gst/gsx

soooo how much is it to turbo im thinkin about it toooooo

Theres a question that hasnt been brought up about 500000x times.... But instead of being a dick and not answering the question, Ill help ya out...
Your gonna have to buy a kit, or make a custom kit... If u know how turbos work, and u already know the parts ure gonna need then id say go for that route... But because ure askin a question like "how much does it cost", I doubt ure gonna be able to do a custom job, so ull have to get a kit... Either Star Performance or HRC... They range from $1800-$2300 for a basic stage 1 kit... thatll get ya 5-6 pounds of boost with no intercooler... From there the price goes up, more and more for each stage... If u really want info on these kits go to 2gnt.com and search there for "HRC vs Star" (because thats a whole new topic on its own), all I did was answer the price question...

Y do you wanna be able to beat other GST's??? go out and run the trans am's, mustangs, and camaros and show them what imports really are like. dont race fellow DSMers, no kick outta that. A turbo will be expensive on a NA engine. its better to buy a GST or GSX, but its the insurance that kills ya, thats why i got the GS, im ganna turbo my GS and still be paying less in the long run. w/ the difference in insurance for one year between a GS and a GST you can afford your turbo kit.

i just brought up gst's to compare how fast my car can potentially be, not that i only wanna race them

No, its cool, i was just wondering. Im selling my eclipse right now to get a GST. i decided just to get it because im having a lot of problems with my 420A right now. its in the shop getting the engine worked on. keep having problems with my belts, valve tapping, and lose of oil very quickly. im just tired of all the problems, they said it will be perfect when they're done with it, so im just ganna sell it and buy a GST. there quick stock, and i can upgrade easier. so if you know anyone who wants to buy a 98 Eclipse GS $10,999 OBO. Have a GST spoiler and stock Front Bumper to go with the car. i can have the bumper painted and installed for free if anyone is interessted. Email me about it.... [email protected]

the car has 49,000 miles, garaged since day one. second owner. have all reciepts of everything done to the car. Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil every 3000 miles. Runs great (other than recent problems) Power everything, cept seats. power sun roof, 10 disc cd changer, upgraded speakers (6x9 in rear). front tires, Brand new put on car two weeks ago.

What are the best Internals for my 420A since I'll be going Turbo in a couple of Month's, and when I say Internals I mean everything Bottom end and top end. Anyone can help me please????
