Kea'au,
hey guys,

im looking to run 10 psi or so with my gs-turbo. i have the star stage 1 kit. is it possible to just do the bottom end (pistons and stuff LOL) and keep it non-intercooled? any other recomemdations would be greatly appreciated. just looking to run 10psi and not kill my engine at the same time...thanks guys

Agreed with above, your just gonna burn shit up without an intercooler. Id rather get a intercooler than a whole new engine after I burnt shit up without an intercooler. :thumb:

how much boost would you recommend without an intercooler.. just like 5-7? will the engine hold that?

thanks

thanks:thumb: , guess i gots to save up for that intercooler now hehe. so with the intercooler how much boost you think i can run on the stock internals?

sorry my badOMG

7 or 8 is the safest but anymore then 10 is like rolling the dice ( I myself on my stock bottom end push 7 psi)
and yes this topic has been answered a bajillion times but Ive never seen anyone want to built the bottom end and not have an intercooler, you should at least get a 1G SMIC or a supra SMIC

ya dude get a front mount (my reccommendation) and then build the bottom end and get some bigger injectors and some cams and a 3", LOL, thats all....then you can be one of those rare 420a's with a 300+ dyno sheet like sui (congrats by the way)

I wouldnt run any more than 7-8psi non intercooled even on a built bottom end, your just asking for trouble.

My question is, how is he going to fry the turbo at 10psi? whether its intercooled or not, 10psi is still going to be 10psi as far as the turbo is concerned.

Well that would be like saying i can run 25psi non-intercooled because 25psi is still 25psi to the turbo. You need to have the intercooler to keep the turbo cool. Why would hahn suggest running a MAX of 7psi non intercooled. Because any more and the turbo will "fry itself" any higher. I think hahn knows what they are doing!

1tuffrs is right here. It's not the turbo that cares about intercollers. 25 psi non intercolled is the same as 25 psi intercooled TO THE TURBO. The engine has a problem eating hot air though. That's the reason you can't is because the engine will go not the turbo.

no it doesnt...the intercooler cools the air after the turbo, and it is sent directly to the TB. perhaps an intercooler would drop your egts a few degrees, which in turn would keep the turbo cooler, but it would be negligible at best...

hope this helps

^^^^Exactly. Basicly the motor likes cold air, that's why cold air intakes work. Colder air is denser so you get more bang for the buck. When you compress the air with a turbo, you also heat it up real good. If you feed an engine the kind of air that comes from a turbo pumping 25 psi without cooling it off you will get pre mature detnoation, possibly even after burn.

I have seen some neons run 10psi non intercooled @ the track. Not to say is a good idea but maybe for a short while it will work but don't do it all the time. 5-6psi for non intercooled is fine if you run 10 psi non intercooled for a long time you will melt somthing in your head and that's not good.
