I need some help. well i have a 1997 eclipse with a star performance turbo kit. 2.5" exhaust and last friday at the track i ran a 15.474 now is it just me or does this seem really slow for the turbo kit. I really could use some advice on what to do and why it was so slow... heres my slip:
Reaction: .266
60': 2.440
330': 6.609
1/8 ET: 10.060
1/8 MPH: 71.41
1000' ET: 12.996
1/4 ET 15.474
1/4 MPH: 89.63

I could really use some advice.

Thanks

Are you running the stock clutch?

I know on my car, I still have the stock clutch and it slips like a bi*** at 10psi when I go WOT. So needless to say I don't floor it right now. :)

Yea im running the stock clutch right now. Im new to the imports, how can you tell if the clutch is slipping?

Thanks Guys

Looking at your trap speed it would seem there is more wrong than just the clutch. I would check for a boost leak. Also at what RPMs are you shifting? What type of intercooler FMIC or side mount?

its a front mount intercooler, i shift at around 6500+ rpms and how and were would i look for a boost leak?

^^^^^ what they said......look at all of that, definitely work on launching it better to get some traction from the line. How did you launch it??? Did you dump the clutch or slip it???? When you get on your car while driving does it just rev for a bit and then slowly build speed?? If so then your clutch is slipping....there are other ways to tell but that is the easiest. Do a search for boost leaks and you'll find plenty of info on how to check for them. Good luck and keep us posted on how things turn out....

well on my turbo kit which is the hrc.. i was running 7 psi and my power ban was fallin off after 6000 rpm.. if you just have the kit on your stock motor i wouldnt be shifting that high..

Took it to the track tonight and got a little better, just some smother shifting but i still think i should be faster.

Get a centerforce clutch. This is the only clutch that is made for our cars without spending 600.00 to 800.00 for a clutch masters. Practice alot on clutching ans shiffting. reaction time is a must. I ran 15.00 flat with a Star Perf. kit on stock tires and susp. All i can say is practice and practice. It took me awhile to get it but i get better everythime.:dsm:

Have you done a compression check? Your mph is very low for that turbo. I have a HRC stg2 on my ESI and I was trapping 98 mph at 9.5 psi and a 2.5 turbo back exhaust.

HRC stage 2 and I usually trapped around 96-97 and ran 14.7 to 14.9...and as far as the Centerfarce clutches go, I would get a SPEC, roughly same price and much better, the CF will NOT last with boost....

I did a compression check on my car tonight.

#1- 210
#2- 200
#3- 200
#4- 210

so im balanced across the board? Im really starting to lean towards the clutch problem.
FYI- Last weekend I was going to do a burn out with the ebrake pulled so it would stay in place, so i reved the engine up to around 4500 rpm and droped the clutch, the rpms went thought the roof and the tires didnt break loose. Then all you could smell is the clutch, shouldnt when i drop the clutch the tires should break loose and there should be a sweet smoke show at least thats what happends in my camaro :)

any more info would be great.
