Compression Question

Hey I have a 99 Eclipse GS and plan on puttin in a Hahn Stage 2 kit in my car before the end of summer. Before i do that however i plan on rebuilding my bottom with a howell rebuild kit. My question is what size pistons should i get 8.6 10.5 12.5?

Most will do 8.6 pistons so they can run higher boost levels. But you could also do high comp pistons with less boost. Up to you on how much you want to boost, etc.

Go with 8.6 low compression is for turbo cars so you can run more boost. High compression 10.5 12.1is for N/A so get the low comp. pistions

You want 8.6:1 unless your already a master tuner. That way you have more room for error without blowing up the motor.

I have 9:1 and I have heard higher compression under boost is a lot of fun.

It may be fun, but rebuilding the engine you already paid $2,000 for sucks. Even with 9:1 you better not make any errors or ...............boom. Now up the comp to 10.5:1 and if you miss one lean spot....... boom
