So everyone says buy the hrc kit or buy the star kit for a non turbo gs or rs. Well with a 1g gs can you just get the complete turbo kit (turbo, manifold, downpipe, injectors, etc.) off a 1g gst or gsx and put it on. It should work I read it would but wouldnt that be just as affective as a stock gst and then couldnt you just buy the upgrade kits and so fourth that you can for the gst if you wanted to? Is this doable or no and off course I am talking about junkyard turbo so what would need to be rebuilt or replaced besides the turbo itself. I think the total cost of this kit would be way under $1000 and solve all solutions for the non turbo people who just want a turbo and dont care about making 400 hp

Yeah you could make a turbo kit with the parts you get off a 4G63, the only difference will be you will not have oil squirters in the block, and you'll have to install the knock sensor, and possibly a turbo ecm if you do the knock sensor. Without the knock sensor you will not know if your leaning out unless you have an AF gauge. Again though, the best thing to do is take the pistons out and get some lower compression turbo pistons to take on the boost, otherwise you will be running at 9:1 with forced induction, and on stock internals that can be deadly.

Hey thanks for the advice I plan on getting an a/f gauge so I could go that route. Also buy aftermarket low comp pistons. So with those two and the complete setup it would work right and thanks a lot. Also I wanted a fmic but I was planning on going the cheap route and using a starion one I would just have to get the piping ran at an exhaust shop right?

A FMIC is great to use on any turbocharger, but on some turbo setups it would be an overkill. Before you plan on doing a turbocharger setup though I would do more research in this subject, and learning more about the setup itself. You could make your own turbo setup on that motor without using parts off the Turbo 4G63, but remember it does require learning about Air Fuel Mixtures, and timing. Turbo's can't be strapped on.

my advice is to read one of the two stickies at the top of this forum, when it comes to turboing nt 4g63's this forum has you covered like a jimmy hat in a whore house.

dont do it without rebuilding the bottom end unless you plan to run less than 9 psi, otherwise you run the risk of killing your motor,as for the oil squirters they mentioned, you dont need them, in fact I think they tend to rob HP, since the rods(from what I understand) have to move through a rather heavy mist of oil, but then, my understanding about where they are in the block is rather foggy, but anyway, plenty of people dont use them and have never had a problem, butlike he said, read the sticky
