N/T to Turbo Mod Help

Hey I plan on putting a Star Stage II turbo kit on my 97 GS in the summer, after i finish rebuilding the bottom end with the Howell Bottom end kit. My question was after the bottom end kit and turbo is installed and i want to put on cams and pullys etc. do i buy parts that are for a 2.0L Turbo(GST GSX)...? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you always buy parts for the N/A (GS or RS).

The only reason there is a difference in parts is because they are two different engines. You would still buy all the parts for N/T 420A engine not the turbo 4G63. Many people forget this when buying clutches and end up with a clutch that they can't use (who's idea was it to have such a shitty clutch setup for the N/T's anyway?)

Yeah took me a while to figure out the difference between the two. I was always under the impression that if you turbocharged the N/T you used turbo parts but I figured it out one day out of the blue. I haven't had a chance to run my car with the 440cc injectors yet since my car won't officially run until wednesday (that's when it comes out of the shop with the new engine) but I will let you know when I do run it since the 440cc might be overkill for my application. Exhaust wise I've cut the catalytic converter out (no emissions laws around here) and put a test pipe in it's place and the GReddy EVO cat-back exhaust for the GS-T (since the GS and GS-T have the same exhaust setup). That way I get the bigger turbo piping (60mm GS/RS vs 80mm GS-T).

Alright yeah that sounds cool, just get back to me when you get it back from the shop. I was thinkin 335cc but your input will definitly help. I was wondering tho what you thought i should do for my exhaust setup because we have emission laws here. Im not sure if i can run a cat-back from my down pipe or what. Thanks for replyin and I will talk to you later

I think it depends where you live since certain places have more strict laws on emissions that others but I think as long as you keep a catalytic converter in your car you should be safe. Might want to look into the laws on that one.
