block bore?

I was curious and I am doing my rebulind soon so I'm wondering why do people bore their block for oversized pistons .20, .40. what are the advantages/disadvantages to keeping stock bore or going.20 over? Would it be a wise choice to bore to .20 or would stock bore be just fine?could someone please help and explain this a little better to me. any advice is helpful. thanks

Going .020 over will give you a new starting ground to build on, personally I'm looking to go .030 to .040 (haven't decided yet) when I rebuild my motor. The only thing I suggest is make sure you know your machinest very well, and that you trust him, cause if the bore is off, ouch!

Say I'm thinking of the following when rebuild mine too, any suggestion on power gain?

1_Top end crane cams kit (Street Performance Range Idle to 6500 RPM's Intake Duration 242@006 Lift .354 inch Exhaust Duration 242@.006 Lift .354 inch)

2_bottom end cams kit (Street Performance Range Idle to 6500 RPM's Intake Duration 242@006 Lift .354 inch Exhaust Duration 242@.006 Lift .354 inch)

3_.10 overbored pistons, probably 10.5 or 12.5?

4_port and polich head,

Birdman,

Good luck with your rebuild. I'm probably going .020" or .030" over, you decide what size you want yet? If you're interested in a cheap place to find the parts:

http://www.howellautomotive.com

They offer their bottom-end kit for $1099.00. This comes with Eagle rods and JE Pistons and other various components you will need. If you have a source that offers the parts for less let me know, later.
