So yeah, I haven't been posting much about my car as of late because I'm tired of it LOL. It makes me so sad, so instead I just post and help out other people...then just chat with josh, paul, and a few others on instant messengers. Anywho, I'm on my 3rd tranny this year, 3rd clutch as well, got megasquirt with built block on 15psi etc etc...and now this:

Oh man, if it werent for bad luck, you would have no luck at all my friend.

Does your DP have a flex section in it?

Damn X..So appArently the streetsource's manifolds aren't bullet proof!

^:thumb:

I was just gonna ask what kind it was. That IS some bad luck X, how in the heck did that happen anyways? Was it because of no flex section of downpipe?

Yeah, my downpipe has a flex section...which just so happened to drag along the highway today grrrr. I'm pretty upset right now, I want a new manifold, downpipe, and turbo...gonna go with a 50 trim t3/t4 I think.

EDIT: you should call mike for me and give him my number, I can't ####ing call him..."you're trying to dial a number that can't be reached from your calling area" damn alaska!!!

exactly where is the flex section located. If its too far back it won't help.

But another idea for your next downpipe is to brace the downpipe to the back side of the block under the car.

It'll flex w/ the flex section but still be supported by something else other than the turbo and manifold.

You know what X... it looks like you just got the short end of the "I'll be your guinea pig, Mike" stick. Isn't this "first" manifold that Mike had built for the 420A (Eclipse, at least...)?

After looking at yours, and comparing it to mine, I noticed a few design differences. For one, it looks like he used a short piece of square tubing as a riser, to extend to the flange on yours. My flange appears to actually be inlaid, flush with the rest of the manifold. He then used thick pieces of metal to brace the flange on the top and bottom; something I don't see on yours either.

Sorry to hear the bad news, nonetheless. This shoudn't be taken to mean that his products are inferior, though. From what I understand, this manifold was the prototype; subject to novice mistakes. I'd still recommend them to most people, although I'm very curious to see how the Treadstone manifold works out. Josh, you better report back here with every detail about that thing.

Hey, theres always the hahn manifold. pricey yes, but stout.

hey who knows maybe you can get a new manifold, dp , and turbo then your oil pump can take a $H#t on you LOL. Thats just what you need.

just kidding X, sorry to hear about that man, hope all goes well after you fix this problem.

Just as further information:

Standard Hahn kits indicate that you must support the lower downpipe using the factory downpipe clamp point that attaches at the front oil pan lip area. They want to be sure that the weight of the turbo and the manifold on a shaking, twisting motor are fully supported, especially since the downpipe is comprised of two pipes attached by a slip fit joint and a muffler clamp.

I recently upgraded to Hahn's Eliminator 3" DP and they say that the support attachment is no longer needed since the cheesy muffler-clamp union from the original kit is no longer used. It still makes me nervous to hang all that weight on just the mainifold studs and the flex section but they say that is the correct way to do it when using their Eliminator kit and they do stand beind their products. I've got maybe 1000 miles on the new fully 3" exhaust system and it all looks good so far.

Sorry about your troubles. Hope streetsource backs up their products for you. No way that weld should fail like that.

...I think I'm still crying :(

Who's gonna call Mike for me LOL, not sure if he's emailed me back or not.

Reminds me of this SSautochrome picture. :toobad: . Hope you can get it warranteed.

Still no reply from Mike in email.....

Like I said, who's gonna call and give him my damn number, JOSH!!!!

Damn x that sucks. When my mani cracked he offered to fix it for shipping cost. Sometimes it takes him awhile to get to his email. He will get back to you though. I have lots of faith in Mike. Good luck X and I am glad your msns works for you.

Will do...So far the service from them has sucked...After not buying the manifold due to "out of stock" on their page, I ordered it while "currently in stock". Only to recieve an E-mail 2 hours after payment went through notifying me the manifolds are out of stock, and will take 2-3 weeks! I also ordered 2 reducer couplers(black) which he was holding to send out when he sent the manifold out. I requested he send them immediately, as I can still fab up some IC piping, even without the manifold. He did that immediately, which I appreciate. What I don't appreciate is the fact that they arrived in blue! Thankfully today I was told by Jason the manifolds are supposed to arrive today, and be shipped to me Mon. or Tues.

UGH! Fine! What the F am I? Everyones damn messenger man?!

...still no reply :(

grrr...I guess I can't take my car out this weekend

I can't believe how bad my luck is, it really sucks...so many people telling me to sell my car haha. I don't think I've been on the road even a month this summer, and we're not even gonna mention last year :toobad:

From the looks of it, the piece of mild steel square tubing used is too thin to stand up too the heat and weight of the turbo. As Paul stated, the log manifolds I have seen had the flange welded to the manifold without the riser.

Also as stated by Paul Xmasta was the guinea pig for Mike, at the streetsource. Paul has the same manifold, but between Xaviers and Pauls, they realized the flange would be better suited welded directly to the log runners.

My flex section is all jacked up now from dragging on the ground. I need a whole new setup, or a different car all together :|

meh...

EDIT: random question, could a T3 possibly need an oil restrictor?

My car smokes like crazy, burning oil from that dang turbo...headgasket is checked out good just for kicks. I guess you had no luck getting a hold of Mike huh?

EDIT: That's the thing, I'm not so sure my seals are good...and that biatch has barely 1000 miles on it, grrrr!!!
