hey guys, I just intalled the portfueler and the car started misfireing as soon as i got the portfueler hooked up. it ran fine during break in period no misfire and smooth. but as soon as i finished the break in period on the motor and put power to the portfueler it started to misfire. Anybody know why? Also how do you work this ####ing split second shit. The car is running super super rich i pulled the spark plugs and they were brand new 800 miles ago and now they are black with carbon all over them.

What are you using to balance the air/feul ratio? If you are flooding the engine from too much feul then it may be causing your plugs to gunk up.

Any ignition changes or replacements during the install or shortly before??

Stock replacement wires, NGK plugs, stock replacement coil pack all new when i finished the motor and ran fine during break in. I disconnected the portfueler and replaced the spark plugs and drove it for a little and the misfire seemed to go away in terms of hearing it idle and what not. So i really think it has something to do with how much fuel the portfueler is dumping in. But i dont know how to work this split second piggy back ecu that comes with the portfueler so i cant lean it out until hahn tech support is open

Did you get the optional laptop software package for your PortFueler? That's the only real way to see and manipulate the controller unit; without it, you won't be able to lean out your AFR without sending the box back to Hahn.

You're right about why your car was misfiring: all of the extra fuel PortFueler is dumping into the mix is fouling the plugs. Maybe Hahn programmed the controller for smaller injectors or something.

I haven't installed a PortFueler on any car yet, but as far as I know, the system doesn't receive feedback data about the AFR (i.e. from the O2 sensor). Without that feedback, the unit will continue to add fuel according to its original programming, without any regard to the actual AFR.

The only other thing I can think of, is a possibly improperly installed system (did you double check all connections?)...

I'm trying to find another reason besides the overload of feul. I really can't come up with any. If I do, I'll let you know. But for now, I'm stickin to my previous theory..

yeah I got all the bells and whistles with the kit i have the software and they gave me 550cc injectors but i just dont know how to use the software yet so until i can get tech support from them i guess shes a sitting duck again for a while

you have to connect to the portfueler module. Then read the fuel map from the ecu then press the select all button. then decrease by at least 20% for map A and B and then press the write to ecu button. I say 20% because that is how much I had to drop to get above 10:1 at any boost level.

you can increase/decrease individual cells but at first I found it easier to decrease the entire map as a starting point.

I have been tuning my portfueler for about 2 months now. When I started my AF was 9:1 across the board. Now at 18psi it is 11.5 at WOT so I do know a little about the setup.

Let me know if you need some better detailed instructions.

It will never receive feedback based on any AFR. It only increases fuel based on boost level and rpm. If you are not in boost, it doesnt turn on the secondaries so turn your boost way down and the car is still drivable until you can get a decent map.
