Hey guys , I was wondering if anyone has used or seen results of Nitrous in our 420a boosted motor. I want to hit low 12's but don't think it's too realistic without nitrous. I figured if I were to get stronger axles and a helical LSD I would be closer to that goal then before. Would Nitrous be safe on a 2.2 Howell motor? How much would max it out? I don't plan on anything over 50 shot.. actually, I'm considering a 35 shot just to be on the safe side.... TIA for the replies... :thumb:

The hahn car used a 100 shot to run 10's. I plan on a 50 shot when I get the msns worked out. I is very relistic to run 12's with out juice. Would be easier with it though.

LOL, yea I'll double check em for ya gsgoinfast. Good one . I can hit 12's without nitrous but low 12's sounds more feasible with the bottle. Name one 420a on here thats hit low 12's without nitrous..:|
 
name many 420a's that even go to the track really...seems like no one ever posts times.

Go read on 2gnt. There is a guy hittimng 12's on a stock block.:shhh: He even posted a vid.

Yeah, We'll see how long that motor holds up....

12's require alot of tuning and mods then most think. It seems feasible but realistically, I haven't heard of many or more then 3 420's hitting low 12's.
 
Well think about how long people have been boosting 420as. When I joined this site about a year ago, there were just a handful, now it seems like 50% of the 420a are either turbo or in the project. I will be going to get some ETs when I get my turbo in. I dont expect much, I have an auto tranny and a 57 trim, which puts me just below its efficiency range. I do have a large intercooler and pipes going in so I hope I get into the low 15s. On the stock block to get down to 12s on auto is hard I think. I really dont know, I just hope I can get my 60' under 2.7 and trap over 70.

I hope your 60' is under 2.7, and I pray your trap is over 70!!! I mean yea an auto will be harder to launch, but I was 60'in a crappy 2.5 and trapping 77... in the 1/8!!! I would hope your turbo eclipse would trap higher in the 1/4 then mine did in the 1/8
 
Yes people have boosted the 420a a while now but 12's is still a feat for us without nitrous or atleast a LSD. :cry:
I hope a fully built motor with a tuned Super 20G and nitrous hits 12's or I'm selling my car, seriously.

Chris, you forgot to mention the floor board falling out!!

Napkin, you should clear the 15's on a boosted motor. I put out 214 hp on stock bottom end running 6 PSI. Which would probably be somewhere near low 14's to high 13's(bench racing!!!woo hoo). I know I got fantastic results and even though you're automatic, you should atleast make it into the 14's

I don't see why you wouldn't hit 12's with that set-up you mentioned. It will definitely take alot of work though.

I hear you. As much work as I have done to this car to include the LSD that I am having installed as we speak if I cant do even consistent low 14s I will be pissed.
 
Don't forget about the most important aftermarket performance peice in everyone's 42a eclipse. Everyone one of us should get one, and if we don't we should definately save up for one. I'm gonna try and get mine this race season and put it between the steering wheel and the front seat of my car. Its a called a "good driver"LOL

Lets face it, you could have the best car in the world and if you can't drive it right, your times are gonna always look like sh*t, compared to what the car is capleble of. I vote to improve the driver of the vehicle's we race and see how that effects our ET's.

P.S. I'm sure there are even ways to improve on driving an automatic too.
