i got told today that i should have my crank balanced. they said i should take my crank, rods, pistons, rod bearings, timing pulley, and crank pulley to get them balanced. how important is this and what should it cost? i need to know kinda quick cause i have to get this done a move 1000 miles away on the 11th.

I had my entire bottom end built and balanced for $500 here in Phoenix. I had the pistons, rods and crank balanced. I wouldn't expect it to cost more than $150-200. You don't have to balance shit, but it's a good idea. If you're in there and you're going to do it, why not do it up right, ya know?

I wouldn't bother with the pullies either. I've never heard of anyone getting theie pullies balanced on a 2GNT. Even if you wanted to, don't you think you could just pull them off later? Not like taking the crank out...

someone told me that the eagle rods and je pistons all weigh the same and since the crank is balanced from the factory then you dont need to do it. made since to me :shhh:

anyone got a good way to put on the timing pulley on the crank? that thing is kicking my butt. i have it like halfway on and cant get it to go any more(rubber hammer and a 1 1/2 in pipe) any help would be cool thanks.

You need to use some kind of pusher tool. What I did is ghetto, but worked. I took a 32mm socket 1/2 drive. The crank bolt fit through it. I used a rubber mallet and the socket to get it started slightly, making sure the lock was lined up. Then I put the bolt through the socket and threaded it in. If your doing this on an engine stand, bolt the flywheel to the crank and use that to jam the crank.

Also... I got an awesome deal on my balancing. I had the machine shop bore .020 my cylinders, resize the crank and bed plate, and balance everything for... $120... I almost fainted when they told me the price
