Ok I blew my motor so I am boosting a new motor. Here is my setup

garret t3/t4 turbo with .57 trim
Johnny race car FMIC
1g BOV
Custom 2 1/4 IC piping
Custom return line
T3 Manifold
Ebay MBC

On top of that I want to run more boost with lower compression where can I find a head gasket that can do that?

Also anyone else boosted a 420 that has any insight for me.

Thanks in advance.

FUEL FUEL FUEL!

Minimum requirements
Bigger inline fuel pump
FMU

Prefered requirements
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
vortech 12:1 FMU or SFMU
Bigger injedtors
Something to tune your fuel with (SAFC, Megasquirt, e-mange,)

Don't waste your time trying to boost more with out a built bottom end unelss you plan on rebuilding your other blown motor while you blow the sh*t out of the new one you just got.

Keeping the boost at 8, will keep keep your valves straight
up the boost to 9 and you might be fine
daily driven at 10 the end is near my friend.

haha

Forgot about that one.

I am using 450cc injectors and a 12:1 FMU. Stock fuel pump.

Oh aight then, just slap on a walbro 255 or at least the 195, you'll be set to go from there.

As for the headgasket thing, I think it was a copper gasket that helps lower compression, but really don't quote me for sure. I dunno where to get one tho either.

How much boost do u plan on running with a stock bottom end?

8lbs of boost. And I can get a walbro for mad cheap.

this is not going to be cheap all done

no I want to lower the compression by means of a thicker head gasket.

you wont be able to lower it enough.. I assum you are still on stock pistons, rods, rings? Boost on a 420a will eventually blow the ring landings, rods, etc. A thicker headgasket isnt the way to go. Build it, and build it right.

good luck running 450cc with the 12:1 disk(you'll be flooding the engine) and i hope you got a resistor pack with those injectors.you'll need to use a different disk in the fmu and use the safc to lean out your idle.

Beat me to it. definately not going to work well with the 12:1. get a sfmu so you can set idle fuel pressure and not rely on the s-afc to lean out the idle.

the sfmu would be what i would go with but i figured he was just gonna run the fmu, alot of guys at 2gnt have had good luck with the fmu using lower rate disks in combination with the safc to controller larger injectors(not worth it in my opinion). i would just sell both 450cc injectors/fmu, and just get the sfmu with some 440cc high impedeance injectors(with a built motor of course).

Actually I just purchased an AFC to use instead of an FMU.

New question. Did everyone use a custome downpipe, this is like the hardest part can anyone show me what they used for a down pipe from the turbo to the cat.

:nono: you cannot use the s-afc in place of some sort of fmu. you may be able to tune it to run well at idle and full boost, but you will be dumping the same amount of fuel in whether you are making 1psi of boost or 8 psi of boost. you need the sfmu.

What about a down pipe?

if you know how to weld, buy a couple 2.5" or 3" mandrel U bends and cut and weld your own downpipe. its really not that hard, just make sure you put a o2 bung and a flex section in it. if you dont know how to weld, find someone who can make one for you.

also with this setup approximately how much power will I gain?

:nono: No bench racing.

Ok then what do other people with similar setups put down?
there are too many variables to know. if you find someone with the exact same set up as you then that can give you an idea. but whats the point? who cares what other people are putting down with that set up, because your car is still gonna put down the same thing no matter if you know theres or not, and its not going to be the exact same.

Ok fair enough.

Good news, I found a exhaust shop that can do IC piping and downpipe for under $100.

W00t!

thats a real good deal. is it mandrel bent? what size piping are you going to go with?

eh...I can always upgrade.

are you doing the downpipe in crushed 2 1/4 also? why not just do it right the first time? my DP cost me about $35 total, 2.5" mandrel bent
