as far as the money is concerned a MS is the way to go. I it a full EMS that gives you total control of your car. If you go with the MSnS you get fuel and spars control, go with the basic MS and you get fuel control. If you arent to good with tuning i wouldnt suggest you gettnig it unless you wanna learn and have some one make the MS for you and give you a basemap according to your setup. good luck, please someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure my info is accurate.

Your wrong! :p

Hey RiceBoy, refresh my memory, did you build your bottom end with forged internals? i think you did. anyway, the MSnS would be great for you, but it will be a whole boat load of work with the wireing, and getting it all to work right... but, i would definatly make it down there to help you and give me a little experience for when i do mine :sneaky:

the megasquirt is not for beginners
or even advanced
it is for people who have a thorough understanding of how a fuel injected engine works

simple to use
easy to mess up
but in a nutshell
it replaces your injector harness
it wires into your fuel pump
it has its own coolant, and air temp sensors,
it can turn on or off nitrous or water injection, and engine fans
it adjusts afr on the fly to a target afr with either a wideband or a narrowband
and it allows you to use low or high imp injectors of any size you want and still tune with stock idle fuel pressure

did i miss anything

lots of info an posts on 2gnt.com

K kool thnx that breaks it down quite a bit and helps me understand it alot better
But i was reading up on the port fueler and i was wondering if that would b better or go with the megasquirt? is the megasquirt also a 8 injector setup or all new injectors? and can u still tune the portfueler?
Thnx
Terry

the MS can control 8 injectors but it isnt necessary
it uses 4 new ones and just changes how long they pulse
that is why you use stock fuel pressure
they just dont fire as long as the stock ecu would make them
the portfueler IMO is a good system but not as powerful
it is easier though to install and get running because the stock ecu controls the stock injectors so as long as you put the manifold back on correctly it will crank

the base map that comes with the PF is not perfect
it just cant be because they dont know your car
but it will work
runs rich
but better rich than lean i suppose

you definetly need a wideband
and if you dont have access to a dyno, a data logger
and the tuning software
from hahn to pinpoint afr at each rpm point

what software from hahn and how do i go about getting this???? for future reference.

when you get the portfueler
they program the control box with a base map
for the injectors and turbo that you have

for 50 extra bucks they send you the programming software that allows you to hook your laptop up to the control box and adjust the afr at multiple points
for example if a dyno run says that from 1k to 2k you are too lean
you can adjust the amount of time the injectors stays on to richen it up

from what i have seen only hahn has the software that will work for their controller
however their box is supposedly just like the eic 034 kit so software for that might work as well but i have never seen anyone with a portfueler kit posting any references to being able to use anything other than the hahn software

if you are going to get the PF then spend the extra 50 and get the software
it isnt the best in the world but it will allow you to fine tune your engine

Oh my bad i didnt read close enough to see that the software is for the PF not just general tuning.
