Hey guy how are you doing? Well first of all im getting a 91 N/A 6bolt long block for $200. I hope im not getting ripped off but w/e. Ive read all the posts about converting this engine to a turboed engine. The more i read the more confused i get. Some people say to get the oil squirters and others say that its not a good idea because they get clogged and stuff. I know i have to use my second gen pistons but do i use the 2nd gen rods or the first gen ones? I heard that 91 engines bring "big rods" but what does that mean? I just need for someone to advise me on what setup to use. I want to boost around 20 psi with no problems.

Thanks

ANY Input Appreciated. :D

huh? what do you mean? i want to do a 6 bolt swap because my engine took a crap on me. And what block do i sell?

He means get the turbo block instead of the n\a. Youre going to have to get youre 1g rods machined to accept youre higher compression 2g pistons. And the turbo block already has the squirters.

what he is talking about is to either sell that long block that you baught or if u havn't bought it yet, don't bother buying it

you can get a 6 bolt engine just get a stock factory replacement block or get one out of a 1st Gen that is already turboed and build it up

well the reason im getting that block is beacause its impossible to fing a 1st gen turbo block anywhere in miami. Ive gone to over 20 junkyards and no luck. anyone got any advice on where to fing one?

well first off...I know miami is a big place but you have to get out more often....a few places you could try: DSMtuners classifieds has a couple good motors on it, ebay, www.usedpartscentral.com

come on guy search a little harder and save yourself some money in the long run

sometimes you might save a little money if u buy a parts car that has a good motor that has just been in a wreck or something

so u guys are saying the the na engine is not good to turbo? i called all the junkyards in my area and even farther using that site and they dont even have the n/a one. thats 38 junkyards and none has it except for the one that wants 200 for the longblock. Why isnt turboing the n/a good? what are the cons of doing this?

Here it is in black and white.

Use your 2G pistons with your 1G rods that come with the 6-bolt block. They will need to be machined. The only other differences with the bottom end is the lack of oil squirters, which can be machined into the n/t block very easily. You can choose to use them.

I chose not to use them for whatever dumb reason but my motor is still boosting hard with over 10k mile on it. (21psi hard on an EVO3 16g)

As long as you're starting with a block, start with a factory turbocharged engine.

Sell that block.
Or he could use it since the block itself is the exact same thing sans some holes in the oil galley.
