so its finally happening im puttin one on...one thing that bothers me though....the damn car is AUTOMATIC! soo im kinda thinkin to wait a lil to actually put it on and get a tranny swap as well as some motor work done. i just dont think the stock RS auto tranny will handle the turbo...would a GSt tranny work? any suggestions at all... thanks guys

^ what he said. The GS-T tranny is for a 4g63t, you need a tranny that would come off an RS or GS (NV-T350). Also your stock automatic tranny will work fine with low boost (5-8 psi), a tranny cooler wouldn't hurt though and its an inexpensive upgrade.

It should handle the turbo fine...by the way why did you automatically assume that gst 5sp trannies can withold more than rs/gs 5sp?
 
Hey i am AuToMatiC my self and please get a tranny cooler .Will help out.Besides 5spd's get pretty beating up by me around my Area.Cause when you MISS a SHIFT and it will HAPPEN i am out and never looking back. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm: :p

what about when u race a person who wont miss a shift? (like me) While i'm downshifting to spool my turbo you are waiting for yours to spool and then it shifts.

not talkin about a 5spd....talking about an auto tranny and y did i assume that well because those are made for a turbo motor so they gotta be somewhat better...and by the way where and what kinds of tranny cooler should i be getting?
 
I have read it on other threads, and beleive it or not the stock 5sp on the rs/gs is supposedly stronger than the 5sp on the gs-t

I don't know but i will be picking one up as well :p

put in a 2000 neon transmission.

only people that don't know how to drive miss gears all the time when they're racing.... otherwise its just an excuse for losing.
 
the neon tranny swap is confirmed, you have to use your bell housing however from what i've read, there are several guys running around with the swap, siueclipse has done it I believe. Supposed to have better gearing than our na 5 speed :thumb:

indeed the bell housings are different. all you have to do tho is unscrew a few bolts and there ya go. better gear ratios. somethin glike 3.84 final gear (iono much about transmissions). but a lot of 2gnt people (especially at www.2gnt.com) use neon transmissions because of the gear ratio.
