Yeah guys I was just wondering what is the difference between a bar&plate intercooler and a tube&fin intercooer. The tube&fin just cost a little more. I was wondering should I pay the extra dough for it or there is not major difference between them. Also I found I company that sell pretty cheap intercoolers. Give me your opinion on these guys www.rbperformance.com. I just wanna know before I purchase a intercooler from these guys. Also they have auction on ebay with one of their intercoolers check it out.

So which one do you prefer? Also do think this guys make poor intercoolers or what. Plus JR website does not have pictures or specs about their products. cools better sound good to me :thumb: :dsm:
 
A t3/t4 turbo, I want to get a pre kit turbo kit form www.thestreetsource.net (turbo,wastegate,turbomanifold,and downpipe with O2bung). And do the rest on my own. Before I build the motor with forge picece, I will just be running at 6psi.

Core size: 25 wide X 7.75 tall X 2.75 deep
Overall: 30 from outside of end tank to outside of end tank X 8.5 tall X 3.125 at the thickest
Piping: 2.5 OD X .065 wall X 2 long
There are twelve cooling rows and eleven fin rows on this intercooler.
The cooling rows on this intercooler are internally finned.
The core, end tanks, and piping are all aluminum.
The end tanks have a brushed finish. If you plan to paint or polish your intercooler, let me know so the intercooler can ship with no finish and save you work.
The threaded mounting points are steel. There are three inserts in the top and three inserts in the bottom.
The mounting brackets are 11ga cold rolled steel. They will be shipped unfinished. They are painted in the pictures to show the detail, but the ones included with the intercooler are unfinished. The are very easy to work with, but very solid.
 
I ordered the Johnnyracecar HUGE FMIC last week, Im expecting it sometime this week. From teh reviews I've read he does great work at an excellent price. Now if anyone knows what mandrel bends im gonna need please lemme know. Ill be running this piece on a B16g. :thumb:
 
But for how much? www.rbperformance.com is selling a 31x12x3 tube&fin design for $249.95 plus free shipping. Yeah I know you are looking out for me but I don't think you can beat that price and size of that intercooler. :rolleyes: :dsm:
 
Size is what matters for an intercooler for turbo system.I direct quote from www.turbocalculator.com

"Efficiency and Size. Typically, a larger intercooler has more surface area over which the heat transfer can occur. The greater the surface area (given the same transfer medium), the greater the amount of heat transfered. As usual, better quality can make up for a smaller size. Having a better transfer medium, such as aluminum, will increase the drop in temperature. Also, surface area can increase without using a large intercooler, by using more and smaller fins. More fins, though, means less air which can fit between them".

Good point, I forgot about that, what is the maxium length of an intercooler to fit in 96 bumper without doing a lot of hacking. I was thinking about going with a evo 3 front bumper or a 97-99 front because of the huge mouth in the front so the intercooler can be cooled alot easier. Pictures please :D :dsm:
