thats good man , so new folks like me can get some knowledge. For example if you're waste gate keeps the psi to the desired level what the hell does the bov do , I mean why is it adjustable. what am I adjusting??????????


I'm in the process of installing my turbo on my gs 96. I have no clue but I'm still doing it. But i really need some help with that BOV. thanks
 
The explanation requires a little bit of imagination, so go with me on it.

visualize the turbo pushing a wave of air, like a wave of water through your pipes and intake. all this time the BOV is closed. then you let off the gas, and the wave comes to an abrupt stop. this wave will then revert back the way it came, like water hitting a wall and coming back. when it does this and runs into the turbine, it causes a sudden jar or stopping of the turbo sometimes. this is BAD. to help prevent this from happening, the vacuum created in the intake, when you close the throttle, opens the blow off valve. now instead of the wave hitting the compressor, it is released either to atmosphere or is directed to the intake side of the turbo. the BOV is there to increase the life of the turbo, and not just to sound cool.
the reason most BOV are adjustable is to assist in keeping things closed. if you BOV does not have a strong enough spring, it can be forced open by the turbo pressure. that is why most 2G turbos upgrade the bov, they get forced open with too much boost. if the bov is too hard, then it doesnt open properly and lets the air wave crash back into the turbo. you basically just want the bov to be tight enough to just hold the boost you are running, and no more.

Why are you being so critical.. James is talking about this FORUM, 2GNT turbo conversion.... The people that have 4g63s and DON'T have Turbo 420A's don't need to respond to this forum. The only message I get from you guys is "YOU SHOULD OF BOUGHT A GST/GSX INSTEAD" Who cares if you have a wiseman on your nametag?? What are we back to a class system.... Go back to your own forum and piss somebody else off... :thumbdown
 
Wow im not making it a class system this was a simple general thread i dont care if it was in NT ot Turbo whatever. Its dsmtuners and I can post where ever i want. I was not trying to piss people off just simply asking a question. He just says Im a wiseman and I just ask arent you supposed to have a wisemen label or why dont you have one? Because I have seen some members on here "labeled wisemen"

And theres only 2 or 3 of us that help 1G owners turbo their cars. Without us, there would be no one to demolish other n/t guy's (1G or 2G) turbo dreams.

Wow im glad u have a 1g gsx..You man need to grow up and quit the name callin no one turned this post into a flame war until you stepped in..All i said simply is i thought if u were a wisemen there is suppoesed to be a label i guess u took it the wrong way and made it into a NT vs turbo war..I dunno seriously man get ur facts straight or grow up

You dont have to have your name listed as a wiseman on a website for people to know that you know what you are talking about. Im not a wiseman however, look at many of the replies in this forum. Many of them are from me with correct answers.

As far as the comments about how 4g63 guys shouldn't be in here... Well. Honestly, I usually see nothing but wrong answers, incorrect advise, or flatout bullshit like.. "buy a gst or gsx" from people who drive 4g63's.

Honestly it's because everyone knows you can get basic advise here about your 420a setup but if you really want to get into the nitty gritty without dealing with the "buy a 4G63" bullshit that you can go to 2GNT and not have to deal with it. Also there are a lot more people on there that know thier stuff. Sure some of them are here but it's easier to get an answer there.

When I had my 420a all I did was read that board and listen. I didn't have to ask anything because the basics were there. Do enough searches and most of your questions if not all will be answered without having to post once.
 
yeah, the maturity levels on this site are incredible.

Seriously... I've been on here a long time, and all I see is 420a vs. 4G63... its disgusting.
I can't say I haven't had my run in with enough 4G63 guys telling me my car is junk and I should have bought a GSX. There are a lot of 4G63 guys out there who have helped me too.
Just stop the stupid name calling, grow up, and get along. So Siueclipse isn't a wiseman... big deal.

BTW... EclipseI95cl.... I'm from Michigan too
 
If it wasn't for TimG or Mavisky then my old 1G would of never of seen boost for the short time it was running :p

The point is he is hardly a "grandfather" of this forum as he makes himself out to be. There are tons of guys on here who give better and more accurate advice than him and they don't just pop in once and a while. Lately he has been more help than he usually is but that is probably because he had his balls busted for lying about his 380hp dyno sheet. Either way there are tons of helpful guys on this forum that are more "grandfathered" in than he is.

He won't be around much longer anyway. He just put his car up for sale on ebay.
