Calgary,
Hey guys I have a 94 Talon ES nonn turbo. ANd I am really tempted to put a turbo in it. I have two options I dont want a kit because its too expensive. I either wana buy a 91 Talon TSi 2 wheel drive(I think this is the only talon that came turbo charged and had only the front wheel drive) I want like a reaer eneded one of those. Or there is a shop here in calgary called Yoko Used Japanese Car Import Parts and they sell these engines. Lets say I was able to find a Turbo engine with about 70,000 to 120,000km on it. Could I get a boost controler and lets say run maybe 11 or 12 or even 13 pounds of boost or would that be too much for the engine. I wana put another 70 or 80 thousand km on the car then I wana sell it I want it to be reliable and driveable yet I want it too haul ass. My goal with this turbo and like a 3inch straight pipe exhaust and highest safe PSi from this turbo to make around 200 to 220 horsepower is this realistic?

Your best bet is to do research, research, and more research. If you dont wanna buy a kit to turbo your n/t motor, then your only choice is to swap everything. To do this u need a whole nother car that u can take all the sensors and computers from along w/ the engine. FWD turbo DSM's were made 89-99. The motor you want would be out of a 89-early 92. Its a very large task and if you are not planning on a lot of downtime you might not wanna do this either. Ive been working on doing the same thing for about a year now and im almost done. Im not saying you couldnt do it faster (i get lazy and frustrated) but it will take some time to finish. Running 11/12/13psi on a stock turbo motor and turbo is realistic seeing how they run about 11psi stock. Good Luck :talon: :thumb:

Well actualy I was hoping to do the whole project in one moth tops. But I will have a couple people heling me and we have all of the right tools I also plan to put in around 20 hours a week into this project. 11,12,13 psi is a bit much all I want is enought PSi to break the 200hp mark

check the tech articles section, xhypno wrote a how-to on turbo'ing an nt motor with low boost. this would save you the trouble of a complete swap but would help you clear the 200hp mark.
