I just got a 90 talon for cheap and i want to make it turbo. Other than the pistons, exhaust manifold, turbo, and exhaust, what else would i need? Do i need to get a new ecu or run new wires into it. Anyone that knows or went though it also help me out. :talon:

I don't want to sound like a smarta@#, but you really would be better off selling your N/T and looking for a turbo DSM. Yes, you can turbo an N/T but you'll have a huge amount of work in front of you and money to spend. Best thing to do is start a list of parts for turbo'ing a N/T. I'll give you some starters:

Intake: 1G turbo MAS, intake pipe.
Turbo: used 14b or 16g, oil and coolant feed and return lines for the turbo. Also intercooler piping, side mount intercooler (1G or 2G) upper IC pipe with 1G BOV, last 2G throttle body elbow.
Engine: 2G pistons, 1G rods, turbo cams, turbo fuel pump, 1g fuel rail, 1g fuel pressure reg, fuel return line to tank. New timming belt kit, and gasket kit.
Exhaust: 2g exhaust manifold, 2G O2 housing, and downpipe. Full catback exhaust.
Electrical: 1G ECU, and Harness, 1G MAS harness, 1G O2 sensor, 1G Knock sensor, 450cc injectors.
Misc.: 1G turbo radiator, the N/T's have smaller rads. Boost gauge, boost controller, fuel control of some sort (Apex'i SAFCII)

There may be a lot more I'm missing but that is a basic list I could think of in 5 minutes. Even if you get all used parts that list adds up to over $2000

Just as a comparison, I bought my 91 GSX last yr. for $1800. If you like a challange then go for it but if you start with a turbo car in the first place, your money could be spent on go-fast mods, instead of basic mods.

I was told that most of the internals in the first gen motors are the same as the turbo ones except for the pistons witch make it run high compression. I picked up the car for like 600 bucks so i wanna try and do sumthin with it, i mean the car runs like a champ and its got a rebuilt motor it in with 2500 miles on it with a 94 eclipse tranny.I was thinkin that i could just get the pistons and pick up a junkyard turbo kit it would be ok but i dunno. :talon:

DOnt they have 2 way different motors? i kno in the 2g cars the gst and gsx have 4g63t, and the GS/RS have 420A motors... damn there NEON motors LOL

He said he had a 90 talon with a 94 tranny, that is possible if they are both 4g63's right?

yes there completly the same, well for the most part, besides the hair dryer and ecu and a couple other stuff. they both are 4g63. you cant go wrong with a $600 car. dont listen to all the non sense of sell your car and buy a turbo one. if you go junkyard hopping and find all the right parts, you could make it turbo for less then $2000. when i was looking to build a custom turbo kit all my parts were gonna add up to a little over $1500. that was, besides the turbo, BOV, and intercooler, was all new parts. since your a 1g, you can get all of your parts from junkyard 1g's, and it will be much cheaper.

Those pages are gonna help alot but i skimmed through it real fast and saw nothing about changing the pistons. Was i wrong in thinking that i need diff pistons or am i able to stay with the stock non-turbo ones?

if your gonna run low boost, around 6-8 psi, you can stay on the stock ones for a little while. but after that you need new ones.

What pistons should i get, 1st or 2nd gen pistons or should i just get aftermarket turbo ones?
