i have just about finished my stage 1 hrc 95 eclipse is my car equipped with a knock censor, if so what is it what does it do how do i know when im knocking does a light come on,i'm lost

I was told that I have one. I own a 96 but this should be the same for you. Unsure of how you tap into it to tell if youve got any knock or not. A mitsi mechanic told me the above BTW ... BUT unsure if he thought at the time about whether I had the Chrysler make or not.

Dont quote me ... anyone else ... ???

I would suggest datalogging and watching your timing and o2s for anything radical to ensure your safe.

You do have a knock sensor on the back of your block. It doesn't do much for you though. It will not tell you that you are knocking. All it will do is pull timing at the ECU. However since in it's stock form the 420a has roughly a snowballs chance in hell of knocking the system does not really work very well, so by the time the ECu pulled the timing the damage would already be done. They do have aftermarket knock alerts available to sence knock and display when it is present.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but Kirby can you privide me with a site were you can buy the aftermarket knock sensor for the 420a?
You really should have sent Kirb a PM, man. This thread is over a year old. I haven't seen Kirby over here in a long time. If you still don't have an answer by August, I'll ask him at the Shootout. :p
