I did a quick search and didn't quite find what I was looking for. I have a 93 NT talon with the 4G63 engine that I am pulling to put in my GSX. The car (talon) is for a friend of mine and I wanted to know what is involved in giving him the block from the gsx. I know he'll get a drop in power because of the lower compression pistons from the gsx. Any way around that? Will this swap go smoothly or are there issues I'm not aware of? Thanks in advance.

i would assume you could generally follow the setup i have for the 6 bolt into a 1g nt setup but you'd obviously have to either use the 2g wiring harness or setup the motor with all 1g electronics somehow.

oh and i'm moving this to the nt-turbo forum

But the blocks are the same, minus the oil squirters and a sensor(s)? I don't want the car to be turbocharged. I am just replacing the NT 4G63 block with a 2G 4G63 block. The head bolts are different too right? I just want to keep the NT talon running after taking its 6-bolt block out. Its a bit confusing.

oh i see. the problem though is that your 1g nt will now have only 8.5:1 compression instead of 9:1 so it will be even slower than before. i think it might be possible though. maybe if you even got some pistons from a 7 bolt 1g nt motor you could make it work pretty good. of course you'd also need to have the 1g 7bolt nt flywheel and clutch combo.

Great! I know about the differences in compression ratios due to the pistons, but I didn't know if I could put in pistons from another car. I thought that 1G pistons wouldn't fit on 2G rods. Will the pistons from a 7-bolt 1G NT motor fit on the 2G rods? The talon runs really good for a NT, so I want to keep it that way. I'm just not sure of what is all involved in switching the block to a 2G turbo block and keep it NON-TURBO. I can't imagine there being too much differences between the two.

Thanks for the info on the flywheel and clutch. I forgot about those.

as far as the physical engine block is concerned i really don't know since i have done all my wrenching on nt and turbo 6 bolts.
